Vehicle Detail

EDIT: I have been asked a number of questions about my car. Yes, the car has a radiator. That picture was taken during the paint stages. Yes, the car runs. I took a perspective buyer on a test drive 12/6/2010 and the car performed admirably. It starts right up, and runs like a tii should...FAST. No, I will not take less than the starting bid. No, I will not deliver the car. However, I will be there to make sure it gets loaded properly. Yes, I have the title and bill of sale in hand. No, I will not take trades. This is an auction. I have been contacted by one person who has zero ratings on e-bay and yes, I will take her offer. The wheels shown on the car were optional on the '74 tii. They are not aftermarket. The motor and drivetrain are original and untouched except for a new clutch assembly. The heater box assembly has been rebuilt and works as was intended. My cell phone number is 501.622.8071 if you have further questions. Thanks for all the responses. So...you've been looking for a 2002tii to buy. Perhaps you've bid on the car you wanted, only to be outbid by someone else. Well, here's another chance for you: For your consideration is my '74 BMW 2002tii, which I've owned for 25 months. Bought from the second owner, this car came from Missouri. It had sat outside for a long time and was needing a lot of TLC, which the second owner couldn't really afford or do himself. I drove it for over a year while making corrections and to make sure it was worthy of further body work and paint. I drove it to NW Arkansas on an outing when it was quite ugly, with mostly primer on it. Only recently was it repainted in it's original Inka color. During that process, rust in the drivers floor and rear floorboard was cut out and replaced, as was the front valence. The car was stripped to bare metal to insure nothing was missed and painted over. All glass and weatherstripping was removed and replaced with new rubber (front and rear windshield gaskets, drivers and passenger door rubber and all hood and trunk rubber/) A new windshield was installed. The balance of the glass is free from defects, but the rear window defroster does not work. EDIT: I've been asked about the paint and body process. Many pictures here: http://picasaweb.google.com/71bmw2002/1974BMW2002tii and on my blog here: http://indiandales.blogspot.com/ The gas tank, radiator, and heater core were removed, cleaned and repaired where needed as soon as I bought it. The bumpers were "tucked" closer to the body and the front and rear side reflectors/lights were removed. European flush turn signals are on the front along with Hella H-4 halogen headlights. The headliner is original as is the carpet. The usual dash crack was repaired; however, it didn't work well and is already showing. The "cold start" does not work, but a push-button was installed to allow for initial start-up. All wiring was kept intact so if this bothers you, you can replace it. I personally like the button. It has a new Pertronix 1843 electronic ignitor and new spark plugs. All fuel injectors have been cleaned and checked and work. A new warm-up regulator was just installed. The Kugelfischer pump seems to work as it's supposed to. It starts right up, idles fine and will redline without missing. This is a numbers matching, "snorkle-less" tii and was one of the first '74 models produced in late '73. It is listed on the 2002 register and I have owned it for two years. During that time I have driven it to many 2002 events in and around Arkansas. It runs very good, shifts smoothly and has a new clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing along with a new pilot bearing. At that time a new center support bearing was also installed. It has a NOS muffler, (new old stock), and is quiet. The brakes are great and new rear wheel cylinders were just installed. The heater box was reworked and it performs as it should. New upholstery is on the front seats and the rear is original, but good. The car has an updated 3 series sport steering wheel with the leather intact. A new parcel shelf was added and the door panels have new plywood backing; and yes, speaker holes are in the door. However, there are no speakers there. Only speaker covers hiding the cut vinyl. The floor and doors had insulation applied during reassembly. It has new 185.70.13 tires mounted on the optional tii wheels. The trunk has new flooring with new elephant hide vinyl covering. The spare has a 5th tii wheel mounted. Doors and ignition work with the same key and the trunk has a separate key. Other than the "cold start", all electronics and lights work, as do the retractable seatbelts. I've listed the mileage as 100,000 miles, but I have no idea as to the exact mileage. The instrument cluster was replaced because the odometer did not work. Due to the size tires, the speedometer is off by approximately 5 MPH. However, it handles much better with the larger tires. If there is something else that doesn't work, I don't know about it or I would have fixed it. I want the new owner to be happy with their purchase and perhaps join our group of 2002 enthusiasts across the US and abroad. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is, with no warranty, expressed written or implied. The seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein, and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle, and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgement solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects associated with this vehicle at the buyer's request prior to the close of sale. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle. If you cannot examine the car personally, I suggest a third party assist you. I will make the car available at your convenience. The red car in the picture is my other car, and my wife says I can only have one. This car is worth much, much more than the starting bid, but I will sell with no reserve. There is no "buy it now" price. However, it is listed in Little Rock, and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. This car is being sold "as is", "where is". Questions will be answered promptly and additional pictures will be sent upon request. Thanks for looking. NOW CONSIDER BUYING YOURSELF A BMW 2002tii. The following paragraph was copied/changed and pasted because it really does explain why some people make a mistake in buying an old car: I have done my best to honestly describe this car's condition. However, I strongly recommend you inspect it yourself or arrange for a third party to inspect it before purchasing. I will not take responsibility for any misinterpretation of this listing. This a 36 year-old vehicle and it is not perfect. Old cars are old cars and they are not as reliable as modern vehicles. It's also possible I've overlooked something when writing this listing or there are issues with the car that I accept as quirks of owing an older vehicle that I've failed to list. I have owned three BMW 2002's over the years and never have I bought an old car and not had to immediately do some work to make it suit my needs. If you are not prepared to accept some imperfections and do a little work, then you should not purchase an old car. I don't mean to discourage buyers, but owning an old car is a labor of love. 2002 owners put their own blood, sweat, tears and money into making their cars what they are which is why they stand so proudly next to their cars at various outings, showing off the result of their hard work. If you want a car that's easy, get a new car on lease with a warranty and let the dealer handle the problems! I will not accept bids from deadbeats. If you are not serious about buying this car DO NOT bid. When you win this auction, the deal is done. I will not negotiate afterwards, nor will I return your deposit if you get cold feet. I've been down that road before. If you have zero feedbacks or are new to E-bay, you must contact me before I'll accept your bid. Please remember...You are entering a contract to buy when you bid. Therefore, do your homework.
