Vehicle Detail
I bought this coupe about a year ago and drove it all year. When I bought it the seller told me the transmission was bad so I put a low mileage used one in it and it still did the same thing (early quick up shifts). I rerouted all of the vacuum lines and now it is fine. I still have the old trans (assumed still good) that will go with the car. Other things that I have done is replace the front springs, rotors, front brake pads, and three glow plugs (still have one left new). The rear pads do need to be changed also (maybe $30.00). It has been a good runner for me all year. Three of the injectors leak fuel and should probably be replaced. The tires were new when I bought it and still had the nubs on them. I would say I put about 7500 miles on it this year so there is plenty left on them. The odometer does not work and the tach does not work. From what I hear the tach is an easy plug in but I saw no need for it to be replaced. I cannot believe how nice this older car goes down the road. The four wheel independent suspension is great and steering is effortless. The engine has ran fine for me, but once you replace the injectors I am sure it will run even better. It is a diesel and smokes, but I am told that the injectors will reduce this also. I have no issues driving this thing today. The interior is pretty decent and definitely not perfect in any way. There are some seat blemishes and some trim pieces are not perfect. LETS MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THIS IS NOT A PERFECT CAR IN ANY WAY. If you want a perfect 300CD you will pay dearly for it. The windows go up and down and the sunroof works, but slow. The drivers window seems to have a roller/guide that is off because you have to help it along, but it goes up and down. Heating controls work but the air conditioning does not. The body is rusty and is in need of repair. There is rust on the lower areas of this vehicle, but because the vehicle is black they did not show up in the pictures. One of the front fenders has some rippling in it and the rear deck lid has a dent in it. The clear coat is flaking off in various areas also. AS PREVIOUSLY STATED THIS IS NOT A PERFECT CAR IN ANY WAY. This car was originally yellow as evidenced by looking under the hood and some of the door jambs. I think that this would make a good restoration project for a father and son. Would be a good, cheap starter car that will probably run forever too. Maybe a veggie oil conversion for an alternative fuel vehicle? It really goes down the road nicely and these things seem to be gold or something because if you look at them restored they are ridiculous!? They are apparently very rare and unique vehicles. I have three other vehicles that I am currently restoring and quite honestly just need the room and money. Check my feedback and good luck bidding. There is no buy it now. I do not believe in reserves either, so may the best bidder win!
