Vehicle Detail

1966 AMC Rambler Classic Convertible 232 straight six with 3 speed manual column shift transmission. I have owned this car since 2004, prior to that it was parked in a barn since 1972 with a bad clutch. I replaced the original engine with another 232 six with 50K miles that runs great and a new clutch. The transmission needs a new 1st to 2nd syncro. It drives fine but for smooth shifting you may want to replace that. Since it sat for so long I had to completely rebuild the brake system front to rear including lines, hot tanked the gas tank and resealed, recored the radiator, new carburator, fuel pump, etc. I had a new top installed this past spring, the electric top mechanism works great. The body is very solid I assume from being kept inside. It does have minor rust behind each rear wheel arch with a hole on the drivers side about half an inch in diameter. The underside, floor pans, trunk, rockers, and other areas of the car are great. It has the original paint which is in fair condition, probably typical for a car with 103K miles on it with scratches and minor dings with the exeption of the right rear quarter that has what appears to be the classic parking lot crease in it. Simple repair if your going to repaint the car. I have enjoyed the car as a weekend car show, golfing and ice cream trip car so left it just the way I found it. The interior has the original vinyl seats with a tear in the drivers seat bottom but otherwise the rest is in decent shape. It does need new carpet. I'm selling because I would like the garage space for another project car. Call or email me with any questions or if you'd like more pictures. Thanks for looking. On Nov-09-10 at 18:50:09 PST, seller added the following information: The two rust holes I mentioned are actually in front of each rear wheel arch, not behind. You can see the spots in the exterior photos. I'll post a close up of each on the ad tomorrow. On Nov-14-10 at 14:24:50 PST, seller added the following information: Additional info: The heater core leaks and needs replacing or a re-core job. You can see the heater hoses bypass it in the engine bay photo. The radio antenna is missing, it had one on it when I bought the car but I removed it because it looked ridiculous, some after market antenna with a big spring. I have additional parts I will pass on to the winning bidder; a period correct aftermarket underdash a/c unit but no compressor that was removed from another 66 classic, NOS tail light lenses, NOS radiator cap, additional clutch disc, throw-out bearing and pilot bushing still in box, a couple radios, possibly other items I find as I clean out the garage.
