People who wanted a comfortable, sporty car/truck for around the farm and around town found it in the Ranchero. It was really the first utilitarian "crossover" vehicle (a term that wouldn't be coined by Detroit for another 50 years.) Owners loved their Rancheros and most were used until they simply wore-out. Thus, few stock examples remain today. This particular Ranchero received a complete frame-off restoration several years ago by the previous owner. Starting with a low-mileage, original rust-free truck, nothing was left undone. The body is fantastic - with perfect panel fit and gorgeous correct Ford two-tone Flame Red and Colonial White paint. The bed is also rust and dent-free (usually a rarity with a pickup) and the chrome and stainless trim is excellent. Mechanically, the truck has a stock rebuilt Ford 312 c.i. V-8 with Offenhauser intake and 3x2 carburetor set-up plus aluminum Thunderbird valve covers. Currently, only the center carburetor is connected for increased fuel economy when touring. Dual exhaust. The engine is linked to a 1959 Ford water-cooled 3-speed automatic transmission which shifts perfectly. Runs cool with no issues. Brake system rebuilt with dual master cylinder. All instruments and gauges register accurately. This Ranchero runs beautifully and is a real pleasure to drive. It rides on four new Coker Classic radial whitewall tires with correct 1957 Ford hubcaps. Optima battery. The interior was completely restored with period correct red/white upholstery, carpet and custom carpeted floor mats showing no wear. New window felts and rubber seals. Converted to electric windshield wipers. If you are looking for a beautifully restored, teriffic running and driving Ranchero for show or go, rest assured that you could not restore one today to this level for the reserve asking price. For your information, here are current value guide estimates: Old Cars Price Guide: #1: $33,000. #2: $23,100. NADA: High: $32,300. Average: $18,000. This would be considered a #2 vehicle as it has been lightly driven since restoration. The reserve has been set accordingly. Bid to win.
