Vehicle Detail
Selling my 1995 BMW M3. I am the second owner of this car and I've owned it for going on 6 years. I've kept on top of all the regular maintenance and been extremely diligent on PREVENTATIVE maintenance. Just about anything that has even been mentioned as being a wear item on this car has been replaced since I've owned it. I'd love to keep this car but I don't have the room for it any more. Car is black on black heated leather interior. Anyway, on to the stats! I have a large binder full of receipts and have kept an excel document since day one of everything I've replaced or upgraded on the car with prices and dates. Maintenance: Pulse star spark plugs ($130 per set) Transmission had both 5th gear and reverse detent pins replaced last year to prevent the stick shifter from resting in the 5th gear posistion (common problem on the e36 chassis) Vanos replaced last year with a Dr. Vanos kit along with all new upper timing chain guides and a new chain Lower chain tensioner replaced All idler pulleys and belt tensioners replaced Replaced alternator and upgraded from 80amp to 140amp Replaced radiator Replaced thermostat Replaced plastic thermostat housing with metal one Replaced plastic waterpump with heavy duty and better flowing metal one Newer belts Replaced valve cover gasket Replaced spark plug gaskets Replaced RSM's with z3 reinforcement plates Brakes are less than 2 years old and have tons of life left Struts and shocks replaced 15-20k ago Front sway bar links replaced Replaced both soft and hard power steering lines New wipers New fuel filter New clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, clutch fork pin, clutch fork, & slave cylinder about 10k ago. Brand new tires on front wheels a few months ago. Rear's have about 60-70% left New window carrying clips on passenger window (passenger window tint has two small scratches from when the clips snapped and window slid down, nothing else damaged when the clips failed) Fixed the famous e36 steering wheel squeak New cabin microfilter Replaced driver side door latch micro switch New driver side door weatherstripping New trunk weatherstripping New windshield washer pump New windshield washer fluid level sender New hood cowling New clips for the trim mouldings Rear windows lower seals New alarm siren New clutch pedal bushings Just got done cleaning the idle control valve I also had a compression and leak down test done on the engine and the numbers all came out good for the mileage on the car. Engine runs great and pulls strong! Modifications: Incredibly rare and expensive AC Schnitzer exhaust UUC 8.5lb Flywheel and Performance Organic clutch kit Turner Motorsports 3.5" intake w/ heatshield 3.5" MAF 3.23 LSD rear end (factory is 3.15) Turner motorsport software (HP boost, removes top speed limiter, and increases rev limiter to 7200) Also have and will include original OEM software. UUC Evo 3 short shift kit UUC Clutch stop UUC Stainless steel clutch line 18" x 8.5" CSL reps with Falken 452's 255/35/18 ZR all around. Fronts have brand new rubber, Rears at about 60-70% Upgraded to euro M3 projector headlights with angel eyes with 35 watt 5000k HID kit in low beams, and I believe silverstars in the highbeams "French" style foglights with 35w 5000k HID kit Blacked out front turn signals (using lamin-x, will come right off if you want clear corners) Blacked out side markers and tail lights. Taillights are just the top row, the turn signal and reverse light. (using VHT niteshades, so this is permanant) I do have all OEM lighting that I will include Front turn signals are modified to not turn on with the headlights (looks waaaaaaaay better this way) but still signal on command, hazards work too. Car was wired so All lights can come on at once (lows, highs, fogs). Usually the fogs turn off when the brights come on. Blacked out kidney grilles Lighted OEM shift knob Custom leather shift boot and ebrake boot Swapped in "lux" door panels (stitched leather instead of plastic) Viper 5000 alarm Carbon fiber roundels New OEM wheel caps ///M Valve stem caps Currently needs: This list is everything that currently needs tinkered with on the car. All of it is minor stuff that has recently popped up and I've got on my to-do list, but lately I don't have too much free time to take care of the minor issues. - Needs new auxiliary fan or switch. The fuse keeps popping so one of those items is bad. -Car could use new suspension bushings. I say this because to my knowledge they weren't replaced before I owned it and I never changed them either. Last time I inspected them they looked to be in good shape however. Maybe this is just me being anal? Car still rides nicely and is comfortable. - Car has the usual couple of dings. I believe 3 total All of them are very minor and no paint was damaged. - Car also has the usual rock chips from being on the roads for 15 years. - Driver side heated seat stopped working. Not a fuse. Seeing has how I rarely used the heated seats because I hardly drove the car during winter I never really thought much of fixing this, so I stopped troubleshooting after checking the fuse. Could be something easy like a relay. - ABS light came on recently. Not sure why. At first it was intermittent and then went to on all the time. The good news about this is that it means it isn't any of the expensive parts. Could be a $20 relay or the brake position sensor that you can take out and re-solder yourself. Common thing is that the solder joints brake and cause at first an intermittent light and then full on. So that's probably what it is, I'll try to find some time to fix this before the sale, but can't promise anything. I paid $11,400 for the car back in 2005. Total in maintenance is about $4500 and modifications are about $7500. So about $24,000 invested. You simply WILL NOT FIND a car that has been taken care of this well. Sure you can pick up a cheaper M3 for 3-5k on craigslist or eBay but you're going to end up spending 3-5k on needed maintenance right out of the gate before you can even spend any money modifying it if that's what you're into. I have a lot more pictures. Email me!
