Vehicle Detail
I am the 3rd owner of this car. The original owner bought the car brand new at the local Oldsmobile dealership here in Bloomington in May, 1972, and didn't drive it that much. The second owner bought the car sometime in 1994, and didn't drive it much either. I bought it March 3, 2000, so I've had it a little over 10 years. The original paint job had yellowed from age, and only had minor surface rust on it. I had it painted September, 2000. There are some minor places on it again from not having a place big enough to keep it inside until early 2008, but the body is solid. When I first bought the car, it only had 24,000 original miles. I drove it full time for about 3 years, then decided to buy something else to help keep the miles off of it. The interior looked brand new as if nobody ever sat in it. There were no rips in the seat, no cracks in the dash, and no rips in the headliner. The dash and headliner are still in great shape. There is a rip on the vinal edge of the front seat from getting in and out so much, but can't be seen unless the driver's side door is open. The sun has faded the carpet to a goldish color. I dyed it back to black once, but that was before I had the storage unit to park it in.The car has A/C, but the compressor does not work, but if it did, you would probably have to convert it to the R134A because I'm not sure if anybody still carries the old freon anymore. The windshield washer pump and defrost are also not working. Originally this car did not come with a radio or a clock. The car did have the speaker ports, but no speakers, and actually had the antenna in the windshield. I upgraded the dash by finding an original Delco AM radio and a clock. The radio you see isn't the one I use in the car. I had Circuit City do a custom installation. The Kenwood detachable face sterio-cassette player is hidden in the glove box. I had them put some JBL 6X9's in the back speaker ports as well. I never did get the 3 or 4 inch speakers for the front. The engine is a 350 Rocket 2 barrel. The car has a 124" wheelbase and is either 18'-4" or 18'-9" in lenth. It will fit in a 10x20 storage unit. I have been very happy with this car the whole time I've owned it. It is in #3 show condition, and does need some work. I do have a folder of all the service records from the whole time I've owned it. I also have all the original manuals, protect-o-plate, and documentation of when the car was purchased new in May, 1972. It may not be a sportscar, but it will still turn heads while you're driving down the road in it. For being just an old family car, it's still pretty cool. I've got a lot of compliments about this car, and I'm sure you will too. I'm needing to sell it in order to buy a 1978 Trans-Am, something I've wanted since I was 14. Thanks, and good luck bidding!!!
