Vehicle Detail
This is my 1989 Honda Civic SI Hatchback. This is an awesome car. If you are into Hondas they you know that true, honest, clean 89-91 EF Honda cars are very hard to find. I actually looked for 4 years to find the right car. I wanted an 89, because they still have the seat belts on the B pillar and not the door as well as the better looking front bumper. I wanted a White one, which is the rarest color. I had to have a true SI because they come with the Sunroof, the cool seats, and a 5 speed trans. I also had to have an unmodified, clean title car. As many of you know, most of these cars were modified, stolen, destroyed, painted and personalized during the mid 90's when the Honda craze really took off. I wanted to start as fresh as I could with the car I bought. After along search I found this car. It was totally stock when I got it with the original motor and trans and just over 167,000 miles on it. I spared no expense building this car to the point that it is at right now. The list of new parts is not only high quality, but staggering in the money invested. I started the build by doing the engine swap. I bought a B18C JDM Integra Type R motor and trans with limited slip Diff and had it installed by Joey's Camp over here in Southern CA. The motor was torn down, and rebuilt with Brand new bearings and True Type R pistons which you can see in the photo. The gaskets are of course new too. The motor had very low miles but I insisted on rebuilding it to make sure it was in top form. I also had Joey's Camp clean off the firewall and lay the wires out in the bay so that I could wire tuck them at a later time with a new harness. I did not get to that yet, but it is all easy to access when you are ready to do it. The trans is the short gear 5 speed "drag trans" I believe its called a Y-81 but don't quote me on that. It has very short gearing. It has the Type R limited slip, and the Flywheel is the factory light weight Type R one. Clutch is new. Very grippy, but not hard to drive. The swap was done with Hasport mounts. The drivers side mount was stripped so we used a different mount. It is decent but looks different from the rest. I was going to get a matching Hasport mount but have not yet. We also used the Hasport cable trans to hydro set up which is a bolt on deal. Works great. The motor has a Type R replica header on it. I also purchased a brand new true HKS twin tip exhaust for the car, cat back, which is very classy. I hate those big single tip systems, and it took me a while but I found this system, brand new, still in the box. Its nice and quiet, and suits the car perfectly. The motor is running on an LS Vtec computer. Its chipped but I know for a fact it needs to be dialed in on the dyno to be set up perfectly. Understand that the car runs just fine as it is, but with tuning on Crome, or by getting a Hondata set up, you can manipulate the Vtec point, move the idle speed etc. The motor is still just 1000 miles from the rebuild so I have not done this yet and I recommend that you do. There is no cat on the car, it is replaced with a test pipe so the Check engine light is on. This can also be turned off with the tuning of the computer. The car runs great, idles well and the trans is nice and smooth. I spent most of the time and money on the suspension of the car. I went to Skunk2 Racing and bought all these parts band new! I bought the Pro C coilovers, Pro series Upper A Arm camber kit for the front, Pro rear camber kit, Rear control arms, Rear lower chassis brace, as well as new hardware to go with all that. These parts have less than 1000 miles on them, just like the motor. The car rides very nice and if you decide to throw it in a corner, the chassis is still nice and tight and the car responds just as it should. I also installed a brand new K-sport front traction bar in place of the old subframe. This upgrade is great on motor swapped cars because it allows space for the header and it tightens up the front of the car. I also eliminates wheel hop if you were to ever drag race the car. Again, all brand new. I also replaced a few worn out bushings in the suspension of the car with OE parts. Altogether the difference in the way it drives is night a day. I also bought brand new Rota Mugen M7 replica wheels in Bronze face with polished lips. The car has brand new tires Bridgestone Potenza 195/50/15, which are so new, they still have the rubber nubs on them. Less than 1000 miles again. Also brand new Drag Lug nuts in black. Inside the car I added a few choice items. I added a true JDM Civic leather steering wheel which is scuffed here and there, but its real. A nice upgrade. I added a bronze shift knob to the Integra shifter and thats about it. The interior of this car is a 9 out of 10. the only issues are some slight sun damage to the upper portion if the rear quarter panels where they meet the window. The material has been heated up over the years by the sun and it has caused it to shrink. Also the passenger seat has some material on the very top of the shoulder area that is coming apart, but that is it! The door panels are mint, no tears, the carpet is very presentable and the rear seat is great too. The drivers seat looks great. Headliner is nice. Sunroof works great. Also the dash is free of cracks and rips. The car has a Premier CD player/radio that works great. The only reason I am selling this car is that I am moving and the place I am going does not have a garage. I have garaged this car since I got it a few years ago and during the build. I really had dreams of finishing this car but with the move, that is just not going to happen. I have a folder with past owner info on the car as well as parts that were bought for this car. I don't think a cleaner EF SI in original white is out there and when you add in the cost of all the parts and the swap, I think it will be quite clear that this car is a deal! I noticed today that the passenger side inner axle boot had split so be aware that this will need to be changed!! This is a clean, honest car with alot of great parts and is very close to being done! Do not miss this chance. Note: Please read the entire ad before you ask me a question. I will not take ANY trades. I also will NOT part out the car at this time. Thanks
