Vehicle Detail
My wife thinks that I don't really need five vehicles. Since I don't have room to park them all it's difficult to justify all five, so the Shay Model A has to go. This a Shay reproduction 1929 Model A Ford sold by Ford dealers in 1979, '80 and '81. it was manufactured in April 1980. It has an Idaho title as a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster. The running gear and the rack-and-pinion steering is that of a Ford Fairmont of those years. The motor is a Pinto type 2300 four cylinder with a four speed transmission. The front suspension is Pinto IFS with disc brakes. The motor has a Ranger exhaust header and new 1 3/4" exhaust pipe replacing the original 1 1/2" exhaust. It also has a new glass pack muffler and new tailpipe that exits at the back bumper. Sounds great but is not too loud. The top is nearly new. It has small cut on the drivers side that I have patched. If you are not careful the top can be pinched when it is put down. One day I wasn't careful. It has all the side curtains and they look like they have never been installed. It also has the original jack and irons. There is two under seat heaters that blow hot. It has a valve under the hood to shut the heater water off in the summer. The seat has been moved back several inches making it very comfortable to drive, even for a large person. The 15" wheels are from Wheel Vintiques. The outer part of the wheel is chrome and the inner part is painted to match the body of the car. The hubcaps are from Wheel Vintiques and are the same as from a 1941 Ford. The whitewall tires are from Diamondback Tires in South Carolina. The wheels and tires have about 1000 miles on them. The radial tires are sized 215X75 R15. With these wheels and tires you can drive highway speeds with ease. Also included is all six of the original wheels and tires. The are 18" and made to look like those of an original Model A. The wheels have chrome spokes. The original 18" tires are weather checked but have lots of tread and all hold air well. They are over 30 years old. You wouldn't want to go very fast on them. Has dual sidemounts, (spares). Also has dual Oogha horns. Has a rumble seat, but it is a bit cramped due to the seat being moved back. Also has a new Sony radio/CD player with a remote control. The speakers are below the seat at the front. Starts instantly and runs well after a two or three minute warm up. All the lights and turn signals work perfectly. Also has a trailer hitch. It will pull my my small utility trailer with ease. The hitch has a removable plug with a Ford logo that lights up to work as a third brake light. The 12 volt Model A taillights are new and light up brightly. The brake lights work perfectly. This car drives well enough to be used as a daily driver. Easily will go highway speeds and handles like a sports car in urban traffic. Will get a lot of attention wherever you go. Not a show car but it looks very good and always draws a crowd at Show and Shines. Not perfect. Has the usual tiny chips, scratches and hairline cracks these all have. It won't set any speed records but you will break the fun barrier every time. I will deliver to a local shipping facility if needed. The extra four original wheels and tires make require extra to ship. Check with your shipping agent.
