Vehicle Detail
1988 Porsche 924S I’m selling a rare automatic 924S (one with the 944 drivetrain). I bought this car to use as my daily vehicle for a few weeks right after left knee surgery last July. Since my other cars have manual transmissions, I couldn’t drive them until my knee recovered. Now that I can drive cars with a clutch again, I’m selling this car which has served my purpose well. A Porsche enthusiast, I have owned over 15 models including over 10 911-based Porsches (early to water cooled Carreras), a Cayenne, a couple of 944s and 914s. The 924S is an underrated car. It is a well-balanced handling car, a competent highway cruiser, and a comfortable with good mileage commute car. With its automatic transmission, it is an easy car to drive. This particular 924S is surprisingly original. It has approximately 80K miles which I believe is the actual miles based on the car’s condition. The paint is original and the engine bay is very clean. The interior is nice as well with no tears or rips. There are some minor crack dashes which add to the car’s patina. The day I bought this car, I had Fordahl Motorsports in Redmond, WA go through this car so I can feel confident in drivng it on a regulat basis. Therefore, the maintenance is up to date. To give you an even further idea of this car’s condition and purist approach to care by the previous owner, even the radio is the original Blaupunkt system. This car comes with its original window sticker and some maintenance records. I’m not sure you’ll find many of these car models to still have its window sticker after all these years. I think this car would be a perfect Porsche which can be used either as a daily driver or nice weather car with its removable large sunroof. Offering the car locally, I’m willing to take reasonable offers ($3495 or best offer). I reserve the right to end auction early if car is sold locally. If seriously interested, please call or email. 425 314 2530.On Oct-18-10 at 08:46:50 PDT, seller added the following information: To exercise the car and keep in good running condition, I just drove the car this morning on a Seattle sub-50 degree morning. The car defrosts nicely, heater works very well and back rear glass windshield heater works flawlessly. It's hard to beat the 80s Porsche solid quality feel. It feels more solid than my late model 911.On Oct-18-10 at 08:51:51 PDT, seller added the following information: By the way, please note the odometer reading at approximately 80K miles and not 83K miles as indicated in the mileage listing. I was told previously that this is the original mileage on this car, which I can believe based on car's condition. On Oct-22-10 at 08:37:08 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had several inquiries regarding being able to pick up the car and driving it over a long distance. Although I have not taken the car on a long trip, I have used the car as a daily commute car without any problems. Therefore, I have no reason to think that the car is not able to go on a multi-day trip. Just check all the fluid levels and tire pressures and one should be good to go.On Oct-22-10 at 18:14:50 PDT, seller added the following information: A good number of you are asking good questions about the car. I have published some of them for the benefit of others. Please refer to the Q&A section for more details. Having said this, to ensure that I'm disclosing as much as I can, the car is a 22 year old car. Please don't expect the car to be brand-new perfect especially at the no reserve price I am offering the car. Mechanically, I believe it to be very sound. The AC needs to be recharge in my opinion, but the AC system does blow air. Exterior-wise, the car does show some patina with some minor wear and tear dents/scratches. But it is in overall great shape as can be seen in photos. Judging from the panel stickers, the body panels appear to be original. Interior-wise, the carpet and seats are also in great shape. All the gauges seem to work. The turn signal switch appears to have been replaced at some point and it does work. Please feel free to ask more questions.
