VW New Beetle This is the proverbial "little old ladies car". My Mom (now 85 and can no longer drive) bought this new in 2005, just 6,300 original miles. It is the base model, the GL Hatchback. 5 speed manual transmission, CD, A/C FM, air bags, power steering and ABS brakes, pwr windows and locks. Replaced the battery last year. She had a minor parking lot accident in 2007, very little damage, was repaired by a body shop, no trace of it now. Runs like new. The accident was to the rear, as she was stopped at a light. The rear bumper was replaced and the trunk lid repaired, he recalls. My Dad doesn't have the paperwork, but says the total was well under $1,000 - he thinks it was $600. It wasn't a big deal, she drove it anyhow. I did list the accident as "parking lot", this was a misunderstanding, my Dad had told me "parked" and I didn't realize he meant "stopped for a light". Just to be clear. Also, anything that looks like white marks in the photos is reflections of writing in our parking lot. It shows: LEFT FRONT IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE(Case #:2007-01197) My Dad, 87, says the accident was to the rear, as described earlier today. My Mom, with a stroke, cannot recall any accident. I have no idea why this is not matching up. Perhaps there was a mixup or mistake. I cannot see any evidence of an accident anywhere, just the ding on the door and crack in the mirror cover. I will not hold anyone to a bid until they have come here and seen and driven the vehicle and still want it. But please no con men. If you do buy it now, and then try to low ball the price, I will give you a negative. On Oct-25-10 at 07:56:35 PDT, seller added the following information:OK - Finally I have the answer. I found the answer at the body shop. They billed the insurance company for $696.00 for repainting the front and rear bumpers and replacing the headlamp. It was a minor accident in which my Mom was tapped from behind and rolled into the car in front. There is no sign of any paint problem, and if you inspect and do not agree, I will simply relist the car, no harm, no foul.
