Vehicle Detail
This was my brothers daily for about 2 years. He drove this thing everywhere....starting with picking it up in East Valdese, North Carolina, and hiking it all the way back to Indiana. The interior was pretty ratty, and he was into the Auto-x racing, so the car looks like hell, but was very fast, and has had quite a bit of weight reduction done on the interior. The driveline on the car was gone through with a good used driveshaft, center bearing and guibo. The previous shaft fell to pieces, and with the type of driving he was doing, it was a good investment. The clutch was changed by the previous owner, who also added upgraded 8mm plug wires, higher capacity clutch, and what feels like a cam....this car would chirp the tires shifting into 3rd with regular street rubber on. The reason he is selling is the car suffered a weaping old headgasket, and started burning coolant, and eventually blowing it out the exhaust. He has thought about building the motor for a few months...but has other priorities and projects that he'd rather invest his time in, so he's trying to get some parts money back that has been put into the car. This is a real 535is with the lower front spoiler, rear m-tech spoiler as well as sport seats. It also has the very rare manual transmission option. The exterior has some body damage on the front fender and door, and the paint is as you see in the pics....lots of little imperfections. The wheels on here are an extra set of mismatched wheels, 3 are 15" basketweaves (75$ a piece used if you want to sell them, or buy 1 to complete the set) and one metric bottlecap. The interior is also mostly stripped out, but the windows work, and the gauges all worked i believe. I remember the tach would bounce around sometimes. No stereo...that adds weight :) Power sunroof still intact. Basically, this would be an excellent play car if someone wanted to put some money into a gasket kit, or just use the car for the many quality parts that could be used to convert a 535i into an is sport model. These pieces alone along with the drivetrain parts are worth more than my asking price, so you really can't go wrong with this rare old BMW. There are very few of these left! Car needs to be trailered....would not recommend driving for fear of doing actual damage to the engine beyond headgasket failure. Thanks for looking, and feel free to give me a call or text if you have questions.
