GENERAL DESCRIPTION " NO RESERVE " Last bidder WINS !!! You are bidding on a 1996 Cadillac Eldorado coupe with all the usual power options that come with such a vehicle. Very clean,low mile well kept car. Very eye catching color combo in lite green,with matching leather interior. Car runs & drives,but does have mechanical problems with the Northstar engine. I will list all problems & assets below so you know exactly if this car is for you! Other than the mechanical defects listed below,the car still performs well and if you have a good knowledge of mechanics,you can fix this car with very little cost or effort. I also have for sale a complete 2001 Northstar engine with 21K miles,available to the new owner for $700.00 ( price to buyer ONLY ) THE BAD To make a long story short,the radiator decided to split one day and caused the engine to over heat and thus caused a leak in the head gasket.( on the rear bank of coarse ). I replaced the radiator with a new one,and tried to fix the leaking head gasket with block sealer. The sealer worked at first,so I replaced the water pump-hoses-brakes (with calipers)-mounts-tune up-etc and continued to use the car. After a couple of months, I noticed the coolant lite, and from that day on,I've had to add coolant every week or two. Not much,most times about a quart or two,but never any sign of antifreeze on the ground. At the same time,I had to replace a fowled srark plug (#3 if I recall).All this adds up to the gasket still leaking !! Engine also smokes out the exhaust (not all the time) and sputters upon first starting.After warm up,engine still runs good,with plenty of power,but just can't be trusted any distance. OTHER PROBLEMS A/C blower is tempermental - System is OK! pumps cold without leaks,but the blower only comes on when it feels like it. Lately not at all. Trunk lid has clear coat peeling. No damage to lid, just peeling off the clear for some reason,and faded. Missing one wheel center. Has a horn issue. Stuck on one day so I disconnected it. I do believe this is a problem within the steering wheel ( horn button ) Anti Lock Brake lite on dash stays on most times. Started after I replaced the front brake calipers. Car stops just fine,but I suspect it needs to be bled again. Other lites on are the traction control and of coarse the emmissions lite.(but not all the time) THE GOOD Now, if you're still with me,there are some good things about this car !! NO RUST ! Not even a small spot. Never was !! Nothing covered up - NO accidents - No repairs NO Dents or Dings . Other than paint peeling on trunk lid, only scratch is on the front bumper where the lisence plate mount fits ( missing ), and a very lite scratch on the rear quarter. ( have to look hard to see . clear coat only ) Excellent glass all over!! Power windows work as new!! No chips - cracks - fading!! Very clean interior. No rips or tears in seats, headliner, or carpet. Only some normal wear on seat edge and carpet could stand to be cleaned. Low miles !! I bought the car with 43K miles and now has 73K. This was my wifes driver for 3 years till the engine went bad. Transmission works as it should - No problems in past or now!! CV joints are tight - NO noise anywhere or anytime!! NO suspension problems!! NO electrical problems. All lites & power equipment work as they should!! AT 65562 miles, I replaced the following with new; Radiator - Rad hoses - Upper motor mounts - Front brake calipers-pads-hoses - Gas & air filters - Spark plugs & wires - Water pump & thermostat. As stated above, I have a 21K miles N'Star engine out of a 2001 Cad,available to the winner of this auction, if they want to do an engine swap. This would give you a great driving car for years to come. Not to mention a rock solid body. The car does have some mechanical problems - However - make no mistake about it, this is still a better than average car, and with the repairs stated above,will make someone a great ride.
