Vehicle Detail

This is a clean Mercedes, but is not perfect and has the kind of wear and tear that you would expect for a car of this age. I will not describe all the dings and scratches, and other blemishes. Suffice it to say that the car looks respectable from a distance, but as you get closer you can see the imperfections. I bought this car on ebay approximately 5 years ago, and drove it to Memphis from Houston. I drove it daily to work for 2 years, then bought a newer Mercedes that became my daily driver. At first I hung onto it just to have a spare car in case it was needed, but now I also have a Cadillac SUV so it is just taking up space in my driveway and I want to get it out of my way. I went out today and it started right up, but it runs a bit sluggish at first, and took about 5 or 10 minutes to warm up. I drove it around the block, and the brakes, turn signals, lights, A/C, radio, CD player, windshield wipers, and the sunroof all worked. The brakes were sticking as I drove it out of the driveway, but it got better once I got around the block. The driver side window was not working anymore. Over the next few days I will try to get it working, but for now assume it needs a new switch. I will update this text if I get it working. The A/C was working fine, but it wasn't that hot today and I recall that it tends to work best on the freeway. I put new tires on it right before I stopped driving it, so they are almost 100% tread. It needs a tuneup, IMO, and there may be a few electronic or vacuum based components that could stand to be replaced. It may need new spark plugs and wires and distributor cap, but I think I replaced those about a year ago. Anyway, I was told by a German employee of mine that it is a rare car, and not one of the common ones. I also have a parts car, and the winning bidder on this vehicle is welcome to have it as well. I have no use for it. It is located on my father's property about 100 miles from Memphis, in a place called Bay Village, Arkansas. It would need to be hauled on a trailer. It has wheels, but no transmission, and there are various other parts I have taken off the motor or from the interior to use on the main vehicle. If the winner doesn't want it, or doesn't pick it up at least by Christmas, I will just send it off to the salvage yard. The mileage says 148,380 but it stopped working at some point while I have owned it. I wish I knew when it was, but I haven't driven it more than 100 miles a year for the last three years.... and prior to that I drove it around 4 to 5000 miles a year (for 2 years) going back and forth to work (5 miles each way). I require a $200 deposit via paypal within 48 hours of the close of the auction. The balance should be paid by a cashier's check or cash, and the car should be picked up and paid for within 14 days of auction close. Tax will be your responsibility when you register and license the vehicle. If you want the vehicle shipped, I will work with you on that. This is a used vehicle, and the winning bid price is the price I expect to be paid. Do not show up and then try to get me to knock the price down. I had a guy show up one time and complain that the car was not "detailed" like he thought it should have been, and that I should reduce the price by $150 so he could have that done. If you have any questions, just ask and I will answer as best I can. Thanks, and good luck! On Oct-04-10 at 08:28:07 PDT, seller added the following information: Added 10-3-2010 After looking at the title, I see that I bought the car in September of 2004, so I want to update this and say that I have had the car 6 years. Attention "zero feedback" bidders: If you have no prior bid history, then please contact me prior to bidding on this vehicle. I know there are bidders out there who are incincere. If I do not hear from you, your bid will be cancelled. Thank you. My number is 901-356-8816. If I do not answer, then please leave a message. On Oct-06-10 at 07:46:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I've been getting some questions, so I thought I would describe in more detail what I meant when I said it is running sluggish at first: If you press the pedal down slow, it responds evenly, but if you press it down faster there is a pause of about one second before the engine catches up and then starts to take off. It improves as the car warms up though. There are some vacuum based components, and I suspect something is sticking. This is why I said I think it needs a tuneup, because it ran really well before I stopped driving it so I noticed it is different. It has a lot of power, but the delay is noticeable when you try to take off. It is not an issue at higher speeds apparently. Someone else asked if the timing belt had been changed to a double row. When I bought the car, it had been well maintained by an elderly lady and her family in the Houston area for 15 years, but I no longer can find the records. I have no idea if this modification was performed. Hope this helps. Thanks!
