Vehicle Detail
This bike is in excellent condition. The air cooled XR 600cc engine is one of the most bulletproof reliable motorcycle engines ever produced. I bought this bike in March from the original owner. He said it only had 1200 or so miles on it, and I have put another 500 on it commuting around Long Island. It is fully street legal with a full Dakar dual sport kit and I have a street title in my possession. The 1988-90 XR 600's had some nice features not on the later models. It has the Nicasil lined cylinder for better wear, cooler running and more power. It also has the lighter Magnesium engine covers and the beautiful stainless steel dual header exhaust system. The 88-90 bikes seem to run a little harder than the later bikes as I have had several. The best part about this bike is it has undergone a 900.00 dollar rear disc brake conversion from its original drum brake configuration. It includes a new swingarm, rear wheel and bearings, and all brake and wheel hardware. Therefore you have the best attributes of the older and newer bikes. This bike also has upgraded front and rear springs, wide footpegs, a Roost Boost ignition booster, new fork boots and a new tool bag, however no tools are included. The dual sport kit consists of front and rear turn signals, high and low beam headlamp. Tail and brake light with license plate mount and horn. It also has brake light switches on both front and rear brakes instead of just the rear as most kits. It also has a keyed ignition and comes with 2 keys. It has dual mirrors and an ATK speedometer/odometer. The bike also has an upgraded 250 watt stator to run the kit. I am also including the instruction manual for the kit and the stator. The stator and dual sport kit was installed on the bike recently so it does not reflect actual mileage. This bike is a one kick starter hot or cold as long as the starting drill is followed. That really makes this bike a joy as I have had some hard starters over the years and it is no fun. The bike runs absolutely perfectly in every way. I have just serviced the bike with a fresh oil and filter change, including cleaning the frame oil screen, new air filter, carb cleaning, new spark plug and valve adjustment. The tires have plenty of life left. It is ready to go. The transmission shifts smoothly in all gears, and most importantly, the countershaft splines show no wear at all. The chain and sprockets are in good shape as well. It currently has the stock gearing with a 14t front and 49t rear. I would not hesitate to jump on this bike and ride it cross country. The only things wrong with the bike are a slight tear in the seat on the underside (see pic). The top seating surface is perfect. It is also missing the case saver. One of the bark busters is torn on the bottom mount but does not affect anything. I also am including an additional lower triple tree, as the one on the bike has a stripped hole where I had to put a nut on the end (see pic). It does not affect anything and I would not bother to change it until the steering stem bearings need changed or serviced. These are not great first time bikes as they are very powerful, and it is very tall with a seat height of 37 inches. Because of these attributes, though, they make great dual sports and trust me, are loads of fun. I have had all kinds of bikes over the years, and none are more fun than a light, powerful dirt bike on the street. It also comes with all the original paperwork from new and the original owners manual. I am also including a 1988 Honda shop manual and some extra parts including some new throttle cables, oil filters and some of the original parts. Any questions should be directed to me at 706-338-9434. My name is Bill. The bike is currently in Long Island, NY but it is registered where I reside in the winter in GA. I am in possession of a clear street legal title in my name. I am about 30 minutes from NYC and welcome anyone wanting to come and see and ride the bike. Deposit by Paypal required. I will accept payment by Paypal as long as you factor in the additional commission. Otherwise it is bank wire transfer or cash only. I will not crate the bike so you must arrange any shipping, however I will deliver the bike to a shipping agent close by. Just to clear up any confusion. This is a 600R not a 650L. The "R" s did not come street legal from the factory in the U.S. They are very hard to find with a street title now and impossible in many states to register now without a title. These bikes are lighter and faster than the 650L but this bike is kickstart only, no magic button. I do have the bike for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction for a local sale.
