Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 Offered for sale is a well-sorted, California, 1964 Porsche 356C T-6 Coupe (chassis #127578) with the original numbers matching engine (#730838) and transaxle (#73453, 740/OC). The 356C is the last generation of the classic “bathtub” Porsches. What made the C-Model unique and arguably the most desirable, was that it came from the factory with many refinements and creature comforts to include four-wheel disc brakes and a more powerful standard 1.6 liter engine (i.e., 88 bhp and 90 ft. lbs. torque). This Reutter’s bodied coupe has great provenance…purchased in late 1963 for European delivery, this classic comes with the original Purchase Order dated October 9, 1963, the original Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin dated November 22,1963, as well as the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Ordered well-equipped with options to include leather seats, Becker Europa AM/FM radio, European heater, chrome luggage rack, rear seat luggage straps and cocoa floor mats, this coupe was picked up at in Germany and then driven around Europe on vacation before being shipped back to the US. Also included are the shipping documents from Germany to Los Angeles dated January 29, 1964 as well as a huge file of work orders/receipts dating back to 1964. The car then spent the next four decades in Los Angeles, so the car is very solid and dry…definitely not a “rust bucket.” The car underwent restoration about twenty years ago, at which time it was totally disassembled to include the engine out, interior removed, windows out etc. and when repainted the color was change from the factory original signal red to the arguably more desirable Porsche optional color of silver metallic. At that time a new interior was installed to include recovering the leather seats and a new headliner. The car has just undergone a “refreshing” to include a windows-out, basecoat/clear-coat repaint, so the finish is smooth as glass with great gaps and no dings, dints or scratches. The interior has also just been refreshed to include new square-weave carpet and cocoa floor mats, new door and interior panels as well as a new dash cover. The glass and chrome are in good order and most of the rubber seals have just been replaced. The original engine and transaxle have also been rebuilt and now have less than 30K miles on the clock. When rebuilt a new flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and clutch release bearing were installed, as well as a rebuilt distributor, brakes and shocks etc. were fitted. The original Zenith carburetors have also just been rebuilt, so the car runs great and is mechanically sound. The car comes fitted with the correct Becker Europa AM/FM radio, chrome luggage rack, rear seat luggage straps, new tires mounted on Lemmerz 4.5” chrome wheels, new battery, spare tire and jack, tool kit, owner’s manual and two sets of keys to include the glove box and transmission lock. The radio, lights, turn signals, gauges, horn, windshield wipers/washers, heater, etc. all work…even the clock. This garage-kept and pampered jewel starts on first crank, doesn’t leak or smoke, idles smoothly, accelerates strongly with no hesitation, shifts effortlessly, tracks arrow-straight, rides rattle-free and with the four-wheel disc brakes, it “stops on a dime.” Truly a beautiful and well-sorted 1964 Reutter’s bodied 356C Porsche T-6 Coupe which attracts “thumbs up” wherever it goes. This fast appreciating (i.e., current NADA Values: Low-$32,900, Average-$37,400 and High-$50,500) timeless piece of art is a joy to look at as well as a kick to drive. Enjoy one of your investments for a change! Normal 0 Inspections are welcome and encouraged. Auction winner will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of $1000 within 24 hours of the end of the auction (payPal is ok). The balance will be due within 7 days of the end of the auction and the car will not be released until all funds have cleared. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping. Please remember this car is 47 years old and as a result, it comes with no warranty and is being sold “AS IS.” We reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is being offered for sale locally. Thanks for your interest. Normal 0
