Vehicle Detail

1955 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup THIS TRUCK IS PURPLE! Believe it or not, it is purple. Its really close to the Super Clean Purple. What you are looking at is a Custom 1955 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup There is also aprox 200g of blue and purple pearl in the paint, thus why it shows up blue in pictures. It has 2k etching primer, then a Mar-hyde 2k high build primer for a base. Then the top coat is a single stage Custom Purple Pearl Paint. The top is a white basecoat with a silver metal flake in the clear coat. It has aprox. 13 layers of clear with 1/8 pound of bass boat metal flake. There are some scratches in the paint. Someone last year decided they thought my truck would look better with a huge scratch mark in the fender. I thought otherwise. The interior has been shaved of all the body seams and has been painted black on bottom, and white on top. The top half of the dash is a cut only, not buffed, silver metal flake like the top (it had really bad glare during sunny days) The silver on the floor is an insulation only. Before i put this in, it has aprox 100 in the cab and was pretty loud. The gauge cluster speedo works, but I dont know if anything else works. The truck does have an electric wiper motor but I only have one hooked up because I was going to put a new wiper motor in and just never got around to putting it in. (the passenger side wiper arm broke) Visually, you are looking a it with 1954 Buick headlights, 1951 Ford Pickup Grill with 2 extra teeth (5 total) and 1951 Ford Car taillights. I started building this truck 4 1/2 years ago. The first year that I had it, I just drove it around looking like a stock 1955 Chevrolet pickup that had been lowered. After seeing about 5 of the same truck at every car show I went to, I decided to change it up. What has been done: The truck sits on a 1955 chevrolet frame with a 1980 chevrolet pickup 1/2 ton IFS frame clip that has been stepped up 7in in the front. The rear part of the frame is original except that it has been stacked to make it a 6in step in the back. The truck has full air-ride suspension with 2600 airbagit.com bags, 8 electric valves (2 per corner), 4 link rear suspension with shocks. The switchbox only has 4 switches (1 for each corner) Truck has a resealed, re-ringed and re-bearing (minus cam) 1968 large journal 327 truck engine with rebuilt 1968 327 truck heads (heads were decked, necessary valves replaced, new springs, valve seals, and valve seats.) To fit the engine in the engine bay, the firewall had to be cut and notched to accomidate this setup. The engine has dual 2 1/2 exhaust led to cherry bomb glass packed mufflers the dump right behind the cab. Engine has a 600CFM edelbrock 4barrel carb and a performer intake. Engine is mated up to a unknown year TH-350 transmission. I have done nothing to the transmission. I was actually planning on puting a 700-R4 transmission behind the engine but decided to put it in something else. This transmission is a strong transmission. I have driven it for the last 5 summers with no problems. The radiator is an Aluminum Afco Dual core, Dual Pass. For about 8mo, this was my daily driver. Then fuel prices went way up. The air ride is using an engine driven air compressor off of a Caterpillar. It has an 8 gallon air tank, 8 valves, and the 2600 bags are 3/8 valves. Truck has a 1/2 main supply air-line with 3/8 bag supply lines going to 1/4in valves (3/8 dropped too fast for my taste.) Body customizations were all done by me with the help of a few close friends. I have replaced the cab corners, lower 12in on the doors, patched some pin-holes in the front and rear fenders, shaved the doors, fenders, gas take hole, antenna, and bed stake holes. I have frenched in the taillights, tailgate, and headlights. The rear tailgate corners have been rounded to flow smoothly, upper door corners have also been rounded. Lower portion of the tailgate has been blended into the rest of the body so it flows. The front grille has been molded into the fenders and is slightly frenched. I did shave and extra body line on the grill that I was never too fond of. The tires are, I believe, bridgstone Bias ply 15g78 tires. If you have never driven anything with Bias plys, you are in for a real treat. Bias plys do not have any steel reinforcements so they like to shift and pull all over the road. That along with it being a truck and having full air-ride suspension, it can be quite fun and quite a challenge to drive. If the road are real smooth and no real ruts, its a blast, but if you have deep semi ruts, it will pull you from rut to rut. The Tonneau cover is silver metal flake diner vinyl. I was planning on doing the headliner, the door panels, and a 12in center strip in the seat with the same material, but never got around to it. I still do have extra vinyl and if you want it, I can include it in the sale. The fuel tank is located in the bed right behind the cab. It can be acessed through the 30/70 split tonneau cover. s Custom Pinstriping is done by Bryan "Bubba" Scott This truck has all brand new glass! The reason why I am selling this truck is because I'm kinda bored with it. I want to change quite a few things that make this truck unique to make it even more unique. So, I figured that I would see if I can get what I want out of it before I decide to take it back apart and change everything that i've already done. I don't have to sell this, and I think I might regret selling it. This truck is a huge head turner and an award winning truck. Everyone seems to love this truck and what has been done it it. This truck has won: 2009 Rose City round-up - Peoples Choice 2009 Chehalis Billetproof - Best Flat paint/Primer 2009 Burgerville Trophy Run - Best in class 2009 Rod Run to the End of the World - Best in class 2009 Under construction show - Best in class (No shows won for 2010 becuase I didn't put it into any show. Some shows weren't put on this year due to funds and I was out of town for 2 major ones.) Now the things that need to be addressed. The steering column bearing failed so there is excessive play in the wheel( up, down, side to side play) the upper control arm bushings need replaced (I have a complete set) and recommend adding an electric air compressor for a backup. Please Note - Vehicle does not come with the hubcaps, but if you want it to look the same, they are 1954 cadillac hubcaps. Vehicle also does not come with a horn (has one now, but i am keeping it) and does not come with the battery that is in it. (it will come with one) VEHICLE IS LISTED LOCALLY ALSO. I DO RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END AUCTION PREMATURELY. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ARRANGEMENTS OF SHIPPING AND STORAGE FEES. On Sep-24-10 at 10:07:13 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE- most pictures dont show the wing windows and door windows, but they are there and brand new! On Sep-24-10 at 22:13:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Yet another note - Since I have been building this for quite a few years, I keep noticing things that I forgot to mention. As in this note - For the headlights and the grille to fit correctly, and the fact that I've always hated that the front of the fenders are quite a bit higher than the rear portion of the fenders, it was stretched down 2 1/2 inches. Also, the Ford teeth where cut down 1in on each tooth.
