Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for sale is a 1968 Chevy Camaro, white with mystique stripes. I purchased the car in 2003, and it has been garage kept ever since. Prior to my ownership the car belonged to a female who only drove it to and from shows while her husband maintained it. The car was in the Hot Rod power tour in 1999, and the previous owner told me that it was in two magazines, though I never confirmed this. The car is in excellent condition, as you can see from the pictures, and has been well maintained since my purchase. The car has never been abused. I've not had the time to drive it as I planned and I believe someone else would get more enjoyment than I. I'm not in a rush to sell the car, but I could use money for other expenses/toys. What I know of the car is that it was originally a 6 cylinder with blue exterior/interior. The VIN # confirms this and indicates that the car was the 291st built in the Norwood, Ohio plant in 1968. The motor was converted prior to my purchase, to a 350 bored .30 with Hooker headers and a 4 bl. carb (Holley 650 I believe but not certain). The motor runs well and I've had 0 problems with it. The car sounds amazing and turns heads wherever it goes, especially with its unique paint. The car even has braided hoses and purple wires which coordinate with the exterior stripes. The rear was never converted to a posi, which if done would really unleash the motor's potential. I've never needed or wanted to run it hard and have only used it as a cruiser. The car is very reliable and is a joy to drive. Interior: The interior is in excellent shape and was completely converted to black. The shifter is a Hurst 4 spd. on the floor. I still have some of the original interior parts, which come with the car. There are two small holes in the headliner, both approx. 2-3" in diameter. Body: The body itself is in very good shape. I've pictured the body lines which I believe are excellent and show this. The car has RS rims which are in excellent condition. Overall the body is fabulous compared to many others I've seen. There are some very small imperfections as with most cars of this age, which are: There is minor rust underneath the car, but for the most part it is also in good shape (pictured). There are some small indents in the roof, I'm not sure what they are from, possibly acorns falling on vehicle prior to my ownership?. I tried to picture them but couldn't get a good picture, as they are small and only visible when viewed closely and at an angle. There are minor scratches on the molding above the driver's side door. Also the rubber seal on the rear part of the driver's side door is worn. The previous owner used screws to secure the trim on the exterior of passenger's side which could be removed very easily. One of the exhaust pipes is uneven with the other but I suspect this is only a clamp and could easily be fixed. Paint: The stripes are mystique and change colors from purple to green to blue depending on what angle the light hits. The car constantly receives compliments for the paint and really is unique. The paint has several small "specks" when looked at closely. I'm not sure what they are from but look like tiny imperfections only visible from very close. Parts: The vehicle has numerous new parts installed, including: new carpet throughout, new leaf springs, new air suspension in the rear (can be lowered/raised to desired height - valve is in trunk), a new gas tank, new steering wheel, and a new trunk liner. The vehicle was also rekeyed so that the ignition, glove box, and trunk all work off the same key. The vehicle also comes with a brand new cover. Miscellaneous: The car has '67 Camaro tail-lights and rear quarter panels, the previous owner apparently liked them better. I never minded and haven't changed them to the original '68. The odometer reads 91400 but this is not accurate for the motor. The buyer will be responsible for shipping arrangements, but I am willing to do what I can to facilitate shipping. The car is listed elsewhere and I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time. A $500.00 deposit via paypal is due within 48 hours of purchase, with the remainder due via cash / paypal within 7 days of purchase. Cashiers checks will require a 14 day hold to clear sellers account before the car is released. The car is currently stored at my father's house/garage, and he actually knows more about the vehicle as he is the one currently maintaining it and taking it to shows. You may contact him at Ednsmith1958@yahoo.com or contact me at Jsmitty7@msn.com with any and all questions. On Sep-20-10 at 17:10:30 PDT, seller added the following information:One further note about the body: there is a very small spot of bubbling just in front of the passenger's side door, near the bottom of the quarter panel. If you have any questions about this or need pics I can get them, send me an email. Good luck.
