Up for Auction is our 89 VW Vanagon GL Westfalia. I am starting this Auction out at $100 with NO RESERVE so, bid to own!! I purchased this vanagon 2 years ago with every intention of keeping it and using it forever. With that in mind, I searched high and low until I came across this particular van. When looking at it, it was easy to see that this WAS the one. If youre looking for a nice and original Vanagon that has NO issues and is ready for the road, then look no further!! Body: This vanagon was purchased new in california, then went to texas- where I bought it. As you can see in the pics, there is absolutely NO rust or accident damage of any kind. The nice shine of the original paint tells you how this Vanagon has been very well taken care of its whole life! There are a few dings, but they are very minimal for a 21 year old van. All of the rubber and trim is in excellent shape- there are no leaks. The top is in excellent shape as well along with the original canvas. Over all, its easy to see that this Vanagon has been garage kept. Interior: You can also see that the interior is exceptional and really needs nothing- Everything is well kept and in excellent shape throughout. The seats are not stained or worn and the carpet shows the same. We added a set of the rubber mats from go westy to make sure that we preserved the condition original carpeting. All of the camping equipment works as it should and is in excellent shape. The stove top has the original plastic covering from the factory and has hardly, if ever, been used. The fridge is clean has its original ice trays. The skylight is new and works as it should. For better sound, a CD player and 4 aftermarket speakers were added. Engine/Drivetrain: This is another strong point of this Vanagon. The engine runs strong with no leaks, rattles or smoking. At anytime, I would hop in this Vanagon and drive anywhere. When you lift the engine cover you can see that this one has been well kept! For preventative maintenance, Ive had the water pump, drive belts, and fan resistor replaced. The AC has been converted to 134 and has also recently been serviced- it works well. The transmission shifts smoothly with no grinding or crunching and the clutch is strong. Steering/suspension: After purchasing the van, I had a front end alignment done and the suspension checked. Everything was in-line and the suspension got a clean bill of health. Since, weve only driven this van approx 2 thousand miles. It really drives as you would expect to considering the condition of the van. There are no rattles or squeaks and the van drives straight and true. The tires are Yokohama super vans and have plenty of life left. You will not be disappointed. There are really not many Vanagons like this anymore. When looking for one myself, I realized that they all had questionable body work, rust, or needed extensive repairs in the near future.
