1989 BMW 325IX AWD automatic. Vehicle CAN NOT be driven as is. Good parts or project car. I have owned this car for five years and used it as an every day driver, primarily through the winter, (loves the snow). As you can see some of the body panels are starting to show some rust; however, structurally the frame is solid. Engine and transmission run strong. I have had the transmission professionally rebuilt in 2008. The problem with the car is I attempted to replace the front driver's side wheel bearing (not a mechanic). I had the new bearing just about seated and tried to "press" it the rest of the way in by tightening the axle nut/hub (yeah..I know) Well, I stripped the axle nut off. Obvious damage to threads on nut and possibly to axle threads, can't really see. So a half shaft replacement may be necessary. Other issues I am aware of, the brake lining sensor on the dash is on (brakes are fine, short somewhere) as well as the anti lock light on dash (have new module which should take care of problem). Vehicle has no parking brake. The air conditioning functions; however, needs a recharge. The rear passenger side window motor does not function. Crack in windshield. This vehicle's engine timing belt was replaced in 2008, along with other engine belts. New generic exhaust/catalytic, muffler in 2009. Gas tank was replaced in 2007.
