Vehicle Detail
Hello and thanks for looking. This is a 1969 E-type 2+2 which underwent a complete restoration finished in 2005. The 2+2 E-Type has a wheelbase which is 9" longer than the more common 2 seater coupe and roadster. This provides much easier entrance and exit along with improved ride and more interior space for luggage, chairs, and coolers for car shows. The interior is absolutely beautiful and very close to concourse. I would rate it at 9 out of 10. All gauges work except the clock. Leather is pristine and still has a great aroma. Carpets are excellent. The exterior is also in excellent shape and the paint has an incredible shine. If you look very closely you can notice a few very small and hard to see imperfections in the paint, and therefore it is not concourse level. There is absolutely no rust on this car and no dings or scratches. The car had the series-II pollution control devices disabled, a Pertronix electronic ignition installed, new plugs, and new carburetor diaphragms installed, along with numerous smaller items. This most recent work was completed by well known Jaguar mechanic Jim Boffo in New Brighton Pa. When I purchased the car in 2007 it had just over 700 miles on the odometer since restoration. The car now has 4,806 miles. As it is running right now, I believe it could use an adjustment to the carbs for better performance. It has passed Pa. inspection every year without any trouble. This is a non-smoking car and is stored in a heated garage during the winter months. Upgrades added since I have had the car include series-I knockoffs, new spare tire, and a gorgeous 15" Moto-Lita steering wheel. The car had the more desirable series-I bonnet with covered headlights added during the restoration. You would have to spend much more than the very reasonable reserve price to restore an E-Type to this level, and it is quite rare to find a 2+2 with a manual transmission this clean. Overall this Jag is an exceptionally nice example of a high level driver. Please keep in mind this is a 41 year old vintage car. Perfection in an E-Type can be approached, but it will likely cost you around $75,000.00 or more. This beautiful E-Type can be yours for a small fraction of that amount. After enjoying this car now for four seasons, I am selling the car with plans to move on to a Jaguar XK8. Please email me with any questions. While I do not consider myself to be an expert on E-Types, I will do my best to answer any questions you may have about the car. I will be glad to help arrange shipping, which is the responsibility of the buyer. Deposit of $500.00 required through Pay Pal within 48 hours of completion of the auction with the balance due within 7 days in the form of a certified bank check. On Sep-14-10 at 09:21:14 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had some questions regarding the need for a tune up. I drove the car to the Watkins Glen Vintage Weekend last Friday. This is a 200mile round trip. The car ran flawlessly on the way up and during the 2 laps on the original road course. On the way home it developed a lean surge. This is most likely due to dirty carbs or possibly a vacuum leak. I am having the mechanic look at it today. Due to this I have lowered the buy it now price and set the reserve at $26,500.00. In over 4000 miles this car has never let me sit or failed to start. The car also comes with a very nice cover.
