1991 Jeep Wrangler Islander/YJ 1991 Jeep Wrangler Islander with 224,000+ miles. This Jeep is driven daily. I consider it reliable transportation. It has been in the family for about 15 years. I'm only selling this vehicle because my wife says to. She says she will cut me off. It needs a windshield and a tail pipe for inspection. Those are the only mechanical/safety issues that I am aware of. It can use a new top and the seats could be recovered. It leaks some oil but seems not to be burning any. The paint is original and has only the right side fender damage. The AC needs to be re-charged. Heat works. Heat controls need adjustment. It has no radio however it is wired for a radio and has the Jeep sound bar on the roll bar. Within 24 hours after the auction ends there must be a $500.00 deposit via Pay Pal or cash. The transaction must be completed within 7 days of auction ending. This is a pick up local item. The damage to the right fender is from a deer 5 – 8 years ago. All to the best of my knowledge – The frame is in very good shape. There is no rust of any consequence. The floors are in very good shape. I would not hesitate to drive it three or four hundred miles or more. I would make sure to check the oil and coolant every time it is fueled. It uses a quart of oil about every 350 miles.The 4WD system works well. I had no issues with it during the back to back to back snow storms in the D.C. area last winter. I have never has any engine work done. It has had oil and coolant changes. It has had breaks, alternator, starter, battery, U-Joints, exhaust work over the years. It has a very small hole near the top hose that has been there for over ten years. Never had it fixed because it never got worse. I don’t know how to describe this but sometimes when approaching a stop and depressing the clutch, the engine wants to stop running. If the clutch is eased out it keeps running and will not do it again during that stopping event. It has been behaving this way from time to time for over eleven years and was not an issue for my little sister or myself. This would be a great project Jeep. If you win the auction and pay promptly I will pull the tags off and cancel the insurance. I have no problem keeping it in my driveway for two or three weeks or a little more if needed. That will give the winner time to pick it up and drive it away or have it put on a trailer. I will stop driving it at the end of the auction. It is for sale as is.
