Vehicle Detail
Used vehicle for parts or restoration. I bought it in 1989 and have not had time or money to keep up with needed repairs. Has four relatively new tires (under 200 miles); vintage style steering wheel and lap/shoulder harnesses added 10 years ago function and look decent. Angle iron bolted at two points front/ two points back under each of the four seat rails. heavy sheet metal riveted to cover any holes in floor in several places and pan section riveted in behind driver side seat. Heavy cauking and spray undercoat used to seal. Brakes work fine and several (including main front to back) brake line sections have been replaced. Inspection ran out in July 2010 and did not re-inspect due to damage damage around front driverside head light (it was backed into while parked in front of the house last night); The damage is limited to immediate area of headlight. Had been inspected annually for last 21 years. Transmission works well. Much fiberglass and bondo has gone into the vehicle, especially around rocker panels. Engine (1968 bug engene) runs and has power, but sounds kind of choppy. Starts easily and battery is good. Camber in back wheels is off. Drives ok but has noticable shimmy around 45 mph (maybe due to a wheel out of round and/or the camber). Top is worn and tearing at body connection points. Wood head bow and mechanism (latch etc.) works. Wood at connection point in back of conv. top is damaged. no significant damage in area of front cowl, but apron has fiberglass repair which is getting rough. Instrument gauges (from '65 model; reads 71544 miles) work; radio does not. Vehicle probably has >175k miles though I have put on probably under 50k miles in 21 years. All lights and horn function. Bumpers are in pretty good shape. I have an extra good gas tank and so so hood (latch missing) and several other parts, a so so condition white stripped black boot (see picture) and an old very used car cover. Carpet is functional, but not pretty and are the seat covers and head liner of top. Locks (with key) work on doors, glove box and trunk. Depending on inspector, it would probably pass inspection with headlight repair. Vehicle cannot be delivered; must be picked up in Lynchburg, Va after completion of sale. Paypal, cashiers check, or cash transaction ok. Personnal check ok if for full amount and cleared at back before pick up. I think that the vehicle could be fixed up decent for a daily driver, but probably not best case for serious restoration unless someone likes to do the work them self. Perhaps best as a parts car. Feel free to ask me any questions. Thanks for considering purchase. On Sep-11-10 at 12:18:58 PDT, seller added the following information: A potential bidder has asked me about the body-chasis VIN# compared to Title VIN #. After some scraping of paint and crud under the rear seat (in front of plate opening to transmission linkage), I have confirmed the last 7 #s of the VIN # on the Virginia title. After looking at references, I see that the 1962 model should have just these 7 #s and so I believe that the "141" preceding these 7 #s written on the title is in error. I apologize if this causes a problem for any potential buyer.
