Vehicle Detail

Documented; Numbers Matching; 428 Cobra Jet; 4 Speed; Ram Air; GT; Console Car With the Original Paint. I've owned the Mercury for twenty years and purchased from the second owner. It's now time for something different. He purchased the Mercury in 1969 from a local Lincoln/Mercury dealer who took the car back after the first owner was shipped off to the Vietnam war. He drove the car until 1980 when the car was parked in his dry Colorado barn. I purchase the car in 1990 and kept it indoors. Mechanical restoration commenced in 2007 and has only been driven 1200 miles since. The seats and headliner were also replaced at this time. The paint is original Calypso Coral along with the tape stripes. Still has the FOMOCO headlamps. There is absolutely zero rust what so ever on the car. You can see from the pictures the car is very presentable with a few dings and dents but, like they say "they're only original once". This is a prime example. Engine was professionally and meticulously machined and restored with the best parts. Bores are .030 oversized. The top loader 4-speed was sent to David Kee Top Loaders in San Antonio Texas for restoration. The car is running with an MSD distributor, Edelbrock 750 cfm carburetor, and 4.30 Detroit locker differential. The thought was to to copy the "Drag Pack" Cobra Jet Mustangs of the era. I have both the original 735 cfm Holley carburetor and 3.50 trac loc differential boxed up on the shelf. The second owner misplaced the original 4- speed distributor hence the MSD distributor. I've accumulated parts throughout the years including new N.O.S. rear wheel well mouldings, N.O.S. front of hood moulding, N.O.S. front of fender eyebrow mouldings. Runs through the gears very well and accelerates extremely fast. The car isn't perfect but not far from it. The power steering needs to be detailed and reinstalled in the car. The drivers side door window glass needs put back in. I have the glass. The seat belts need to be put back in the car. Minor body work and re-painted this car is easily worth $35-$40K. The reserve price is consistant for what this car is and for the rarity of these Mercury muscle cars. Bid with confidence. This is the real deal. Buyer is responsible for shipping. On Sep-04-10 at 10:39:28 PDT, seller added the following information: V.I.N.
