Vehicle Detail

this is a 1969 cb750 k0 model, frame # cb750-1004383. i chop bikes for a living and found this one for a donor bike recently.i did alittle research and decided i should not cut this up but maybe just pass it along to someone better qualified than me to restore the bike. i got this bike from the original owners. i have a bill of sale and last registration from the owner but not a pink slip, he has lost it over the years. i took the bill of sale/registration to my local dmv and they veryfied him as the owner. the bike is no longer in the system so the registration fees will be $85 and the bike must be taken to chp for a vin # verification.if anyone interested in this bike wants the pinkslip i can proceed to register the bike and get the pinkslip in my name or,if you would like i can provide you with the paperwork given to me by the owner and dmv and you can register the bike in your name. either way i will provide a bill of sale with this. the bike is in very nice cndition.the mileage on the odo reads 42132 and the tach redlines at 8500. the engine is not a true sandcast engine as the cases are a diecast replica of the sandcast, they don't have an engine # stamped on the cases. it has the 9 bolt clutch cover and the 10 bolt tranny cover on the bottom. the engine is seized, the camshaft is broken and the cam holder was damaged. the #1 and #4 cylinder are stuck at TDC. i currently have them soaking in pb blaster and that may be subject to change. i have taken alot of pictures as i took the valve cover and head off so everyone can see what is wrong with this bike, i was lucky enough not to have to cut the timing chain! i am providing a link below so you can see the complete album of pictures. the hand controls are all free and move, the switches also move. the switches on the throttle side have had the wires cut off and have about 2 inches left to be able to splice them. the wiring harness was not cut. the wiring harness is intact and is not cut as far as i have examined them. the electrics seem to be in good shape(regulator/rectifier/fuse box ect). the front caliper/master cylinder are not working but i have not tried putting any oil in it either. the rear brake works good. the ignition switch has the key in it but i have not been able to turn it. the plastic side covers are complete and in good condition. they are not cracked or chipped and the tabs that attach them to the frame are all intact and snap in place nice.the seat is in good condition but the fabric is slightly hard as it was sitting ouside for several months. there are no cracks in the fabric and the seat pan is in good condition as well as the foam inside. the brackets and latches on the seat are in good working order. the gas tank is in need of aliitle help, it is rusty inside and will definately need cleaning and resealing. the gas cap is in fair contition and opens and closes with no binding. the petcock does open and close but will need rebuilding and lubing. the wheels have very minimal rust on them which pretty much came off when i washed them. the spokes will need a better cleaning to bring them back but overall in decent shape. there are no broken/bent ones but a few loose ones which will need tightening. the rubber is in ok condition, there are no cracks in the tires. the mufflers are in ok condition over all but there is rust that has eaten through the skins in a few places.the heads and clamps are in good condition. the frame was cut at the backbone as were many of them over the years to save someone the trouble of pulling the engine off. the 2 outter tubes and bracket were chopped, not the main one. i am a welder and that would be an easy fix for any qualified welder. the carbs have a bracket on the back of them which is broken but they do sit in the carbholders nicely and is not affected by it. all in all this is a very nice bike for something it's age. i would rather have someone restore it vs. me trying to fix it and then chop it. it has alot of very nice parts on it. i am setting a very low reserve on this and hopefully someone who will better appreciate this bike will pick it up. thank you for looking and please feel free to write to me with any questions you might have about the bike. thanks in advance, Lou http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v307/motolou/cb750%20sandcast/ On Aug-27-10 at 08:27:15 PDT, seller added the following information:
