Vehicle Detail
1968 Dodge Coronet 440 for sale. The title and odometer show 27,175 miles. This car is a base model Coronet and was born with a 318 engine. Currently has a 440 engine ('78 block) with '68-'70 heads with a 727 automatic trans. The car and engine have been disassembled for restoration but are not finished. The paint was mechanically stripped and had only one repaint since new. There is rust behind both rear wheel wells, small spots near bottom of door, and small spots around rear window and rear taillight area. The trunk floor has rust only in the center from previous owner leaving wet carpet in trunk. The inner wheel wells are very solid as are both front and rear floorboards. There is bondo above and behind right rear wheel well as seen in the pictures. The worst area is the roof - the previous owner let the car sit outside with a badly checked vinyl top which trapped moisture below. See pictures for example. The roof is solid enough to fiberglass and install another vinyl top. There are small dings and dents scattered throughout the body, none major. Both front fenders have softball-sized dents on the sides but can be pulled out with a stud gun. The bottom of the car was rustproofed and although it is peeling, the bottom side is in very good condition for the age. No major rust, especially around the torsion bar area. The trunk was badly rusted across the back decklid area (very common for this model) and has been replaced with new sheet metal but not completely finished. The hood is not original but it is a Super Bee hood with the trim panels. The car was running when purchased. The 440 engine was using some oil and was pulled to be rebuilt but ran strong. The gas tank, fuel lines, and fuel pump are new. The ignition system is a Summit CD ignition with an Accel coil and new wires. The Chrysler generator (and associated wiring) has been replaced with a GM alternator and regulator. There are new Summit gauges for water temp, oil pressure, and voltage. The 440 has a Holley carb and headers with dual exhaust. The rear end is a standard open differential and is probably original to the car. All glass is intact. All door hardware and window hardware is included. The trunklid lock is missing. The original interior (with the exception of the headliner and carpet) is included; front and rear seats (front seat is badly worn), interior door panels, dashboard, switches, glovebox, etc. The upper dash panel and glovebox are in very good condition; no cracks. The intrument panel has been repainted and lettered. The original AM radio is included but didn't work. The car was originally built with Air Conditioning but it had been removed before I bought it. There is a new black headliner that goes with the car, along with a R/T style front grille. All headlight and taillight parts (fixtures, trim rings, etc.) are intact. All body trim, including front and rear window trim, side window trim, etc.) are included. Front and rear sidelights are included. The front seat was replaced with 1995 Camaro Z-28 seats; the driver's side is a power seat. I have an extra steering wheel for the car. The car is a rolling chassis as it sits now. Tires are fair, rims need refinished but look o.k. The steering gear has not been removed so it will be easy to load onto a trailer. Basically most everthing that is needed to rebuild the car is included with the exception of a few small parts mentioned above. It is a classic body style that you just don't see anymore. Unfortunately I am losing my garage space and don't have anywhere to move it to so I am forced to sell it. It is a GREAT project car and will certainly turn heads when finished. Good luck bidding!
