Vehicle Detail
Vehicle liste for sale in the auction is 1996 VW Passat TDI. It is a great car, although it is 14 years old it is in good condition for it's age and mileage, and is being sold "as is". It is a silver-gray color on the outside and black leather interior. There are some paint chips from rocks on the side fenders and a few stone chips on the windshield. However they have not been issue and car always passed inspection without a problem or without having to replace the front windshield A car has a minor rear end damage, it was rear ended at the stop sign at the end of off highway ramp. The trunk opens and closes properly, it is just pushed a little inside and form outside it looks like it is not closed, but will not pop up itself. It is nothing that impairs the safety of traveling. I got a new get new floor mats. The seats are firm and comfortable. The driver seat had worn places a few years ago and we bought seat covers but those are about worn out now. The head-liner is in good condition, I replaced the original leather shift knob because it was all teared up with a wood one, but still keeping the old one if you need it. Mileage is about 38-39 mpg around town and mid 45-to- 50's on the highway. Depends on how you drive though, of course. You may get more or less. These cars were geared for the 55 mile an hour speed limit and if you driver 55-60 you will probably get around 50 on mileage. I like to drive the speed limit so I take a hit on mileage on the interstate. The car has a 18.5 gallon tank so you can drive a long ways without a break. Mechanical condition of the car is very good. Since I bought the car 5 years ago it has been always maintained and kept in running condition by doing all necessary repairs. I have all the receipts for the below mentioned repairs. I will start with the most recent repairs. 1. Serpentine belt tensioner replaced in July 2010 2. Front left drive axle was replaced in June. Front end alignment was also performed at that time. 3. The mid-muffler section of the exhaust replaced in May 2010 4. New front brakes and rotors installed in April 2010, rear brakes and rear right rotor were replaced in December 2009 5. In December 2009 the Fuel Injection Pump was replaced at 169,000 miles and also Timing belt was replaced at the same time. 6. The clutch was replaced in September 2009. 7. New glow plugs installed in January 2009. 8. Three different sections of exhaust replaced in 2008 starting from the catalytic converter to the tailpipe ( lastly mid muffler section was replaced) 9. Various other repairs have been done thru the years including rear shock absorbers, front struts, radiator, alternator etc. This VW Passat does NOT have a sunroof therefore no leaking inside the vehicle. Now I have a few known issues with car (besides already mentioned light rear end damage and the few stone chips in the windshield) * Rear passenger side window doesn't work * Rear passenger side door handle is sticky, the door not opens from outside - if I have a time I will replace it in next few days with another one. * Cruise control may need a new cable since it hardly engages or may be the cable was not connected when drive axle was replaced Now I also forgot to mention that the car has 4 nice winter tires Pirelli on the alloy borbet wheels. - they are also pictured in the photos Whoever is the winner he will receive them with the car upon picking the vehicle up. I replaced the factory stereo with new one with remote face and bluetooth function. Car also have 6 CD changer located in the trunk Front tires have a good tread left, rear tires may need to be replaced if you live in region with a lot of snow in the winter time. Successful bidder must send $200 deposit within 2 days and the remaining amount within 5 days from end of auction. Buyer must arrange for pickup and transport within a week of the end of auction. Buyers are responsible for registering the vehicle in their home state of residency and getting a new plates. State of Massachusetts does not provide temporary plates, so buyer will have to use plates from his current car or get new ones by registering the car on his/her name. I am still using this car so mileage may slightly differ from picture in ad. Right now it has 188,272 miles. If you have any other questions or if you'd like to schedule test drive call me at 508-369-2056. My name is Severin. Good luck in the auction!
