1972 Honda CB

You are bidding on a 1972 CB500 four-cylinder Cafe Racer motorcycle. The CB500 was regarded as the "gentleman's express" when it was released by Honda in 1972. (See here for more . . . .) When I bought this motorcycle back in the late 80s, it ran well, but looked pretty rough; so I cleaned it up, adding low handle bars, bar-end mirrors, a cafe faring, solo seat, rear rack, steel braided front brake line, four-into-one exhaust, BRIGHT halogen headlight, LOUD Fiamm horns . . . etc. . . . and new paint, making it into the nice little cafe racer you see here; I rode it around town, mostly zipping to and from work. When my wife and I met in the mid-90s, she took the MSF class and used this bike as her first ride, going from MN to St Louis; MN to Sturgis; and quite a bit of local riding before she moved up to my Ducati 900SS. Then a few years ago, my son took the MSF class, used this bike for his first short ride or two and then quickly moved to a CBR600F4 (a little old Honda wasn't exciting enough for him, I guess ;^) Then I moved it into my shop with plans to do further upgrades . . . but one thing led to another and I never got around to doing them; so there it sat for a couple of years taking up space -- space I now need for woodworking. I'm also including shop manuals (original Honda and Clymer); an extra new rear tire, and a set of new points. The actual mileage is uncertain, because the original speedometer quit with about 40K miles on it, but I estimate we've put on another 8-10K miles since then . . . so the 50K mileage figure is probably pretty close. So it's running again, after I cleaned the carbs and put in carb kits -- and with nearly new tires, new battery, new spark plugs and new rear shocks it's ready to ride anywhere . . . .
