Vehicle Detail

1977 450 SLC -- ALL SALES THRU THIS EBAY AUCTION. PLEASE BE SURE YOU HAVE FUNDS IN PLACE BEFORE BIDDING. I will consider trades in the $5000 private sale book value range.NOTE TO SCAMMERS: NO CASHIER'S CHECKS IN THE MAIL, NO SHIPPING BUNDLED PAYMENTS. SCAMMERS PLEASE WORK ON GETTING A REAL JOB, ALSO LEARN HOW TO SPELL AND MOST OF YOU NEED TO FOCUS ON ENGLISH MORE EVEN IF YOU JUST WANT TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL LIFE OF CRIME.note: this car could be driven some reasonable distance to get it home. It starts, idles, runs and shifts fine with no overheating or driving limitations but it has not had any intercity type trips since I put it back on the road. Also note the AC is not working and it needs a heater/defroster blower motor. Overview Georgia car, never rusted, no crash evidence, very clean unibody and underside, under 92k miles, mechanically solid needs a few things to finish her off. No reserve price is less than just the parts cost for the recent re-finishing! Solid driver, starts right up, a blast to cruise in with surprisingly good handling for a 4 thousand pound car. Runs out nice at highway speed, brakes, steering, transmission all feel fine, charging system operating normally. Don’t know about AC as the only significant mechanical part needed is a blower motor for the heater. Parts stash includes 4 NOS 14" Mercedes OE wheels (plus 4 excellent wheels and tires mounted on car). A large barrel of trim pieces, lots of mechanical hard parts (described below), large box of fasteners, clips, nuts bolts. If you have another 107 car you'll be in great shape as there are plenty of bits for several projects.(NO RESERVE, CAR GOES FOR FINAL BID. I have at least $12,000 into this car--the paint and interior work alone cost more than the NO RESERVE opening bid. I paid $2k for the parts car that got stripped for this project. So bid what you think is fair or make me an offer and I'll consider ending the auction for you. This would be a great deal for an MB guru with another 107 car to soak up some of the parts stash. I would consider a trade for an 80's era Porsche 911(complete car with a solid unibody) or an economy import with a trade-in value in the $4-$5k ballpark. E-mail me with particulars and attach photos if you can to jmtwilson@gmail.com.About the sellerI'm a retired mechanical engineer with 35 yrs experience in the automotive aftermarket. I restore Suzuki motorcycles for a living and often list vehicles for friends and family. I provide honest descriptions as my 9-yr feedback attests. Since I've sent vehicles as far away as Ireland and the Netherlands, I am particularly detail conscious to minimize surprises. I want you to know exactly what you are getting for your money so I provide lots of pictures and itemize everything I discover about the vehicle. You're getting a long-winded story here since I got personally involved with the re-assembly but fee free to email me with any other questions. -john I’m listing this car for mechanic/body man buddy who has owned it since 1993. It was brought to Ohio from Georgia with normal scratches and imperfections at the time so Mike the perfectionist proceeded to disassemble the car for a refinish. The car had no mechanical issues with engine, transmission, brakes, etc. Mike just wanted to make a crazy good example. Life got in the way, the car sat in the back of the shop and has been off the road since 1993. It was started and driven occasionally throughout its storage time so has none of the usual long-term storage issues. Mike had accumulated a large collection of NOS parts and had even had all the fasteners cad plated to original spec. We found a parts car for better seats and lots of mechanical parts—starter, alternator, distributor, etc. plus lots of useful body parts, even spare window glass and trim pieces. These are all included in the auction. The car got a new interior including headliner, carpet and seats plus most of the chrome trim pieces—seat bolster covers, etc. The electric windows all work. The windshield and rear glass were replaced by a glass specialist. It got a nice refinish in base clear ‘bold red’, a major tune-up (wires, plugs, cap, etc) from a local MB specialist, a new battery and an exceptionally nice set of OE wheels with decent Dunlop rubber (see pics). The parts stash includes a second set of NOS 14” OE wheels still in boxes. These would require adaptor plates to use on a 450. What’s left to do -Needs a blower motor, radio and the center console installed. -Needs rubber molding replaced on passenger side door, driver’s side arm rest and seat belt anchor is missing -Some of the body moldings need to be installed (see photos), could use new base rubber and plastic clips on these pieces. -Windshield aluminum trim is missing the top piece but metal clips were replaced with the windshield so the trim will snap right into place. -Sun roof is all there, nicely trimmed out but not working from the switch -Needs a speedometer cable; note I replaced the gage cluster with a nicer one from the parts car so the odometer shows 84k, not 92k which we believe to be the correct miles on the vehicle. -Needs some interior detailing--install sill plates, chrome trim on pillers and other items mentioned. All required pieces (many with multiple pieces to choose from!) are included in the several boxes of extras. All questions will be responded to quickly via email.
