Vehicle Detail
This is REDUCED PRICE RELIST of a Willys Jeep pickup used exclusively for a Fire Department brush fire response vehicle. It spent it's life garaged, warm and clean. Because of this it has no rust and 29K original miles. It is BETTER than a frame-up restoration, because it hasn't yet gotten to the point of needing restoring. It is still a fun, reliable, licensed and inspected daily driver in the mechanical condition of any truck with 29K miles. Of course, there are the added perks of a loud siren and flashing lights if you want to be noticed even more. I have owned it for five years (bought it directly from the fire company) and would be happy to keep it, but like many people, I have growing cash flow problems, so I have to take a cold look at my priorities. It is time to sell. I have set a fair and reasonable reserve for the quality of this antique. It is located near Binghamton, NY and you could drive it home if you wanted, but it would be a crime to run up needless mileage and wear. A flat bed trailer would be best, or hire a car hauler. This is a 50 year old antique, so naturally there is no warranty. Sold as-is, where-is. Try to get your questions in well before the auction ends so I have time to answer. On Aug-09-10 at 21:07:39 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added some pics of the engine compartment (Super Hurricane Six) and the interior. Jeep came from the factory green, but was naturally repainted a more appropriate fire engine red when drafted into brushfire service. Has been in parades and car shows, it gets a lot of attention when I take it out. Kids love it. On Aug-10-10 at 12:33:00 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received a few questions wanting to know the Reserve. Ebay advises against revealing this (that's why we set a reserve in the first place). In the interest of fairness to everyone, I can tell you it is in the LOW five figures. Also I want to mention the bed is in excellent shape, but does have scratches and scrapes from actual use. My intention was to pretty it up with Line-X or Rhino or some similar. I did not do it because the new owner MAY NOT want that done. It is easy to do after the sale, but VERY hard to remove if it isn't your taste. So it is untampered and the winner may do whatever. Likewise with the original, genuine Fire Department logos (charmingly hand painted). If you sand and repaint it will look sharp, BUT you will lose the unique personality of this truck and the history that goes with it. Obviously, I left it alone because preserving the character was important to me. The winner will have to set his own priorities. On Aug-11-10 at 09:55:23 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received a question about the floormat. I took the floor mat out to replace the soundproof padding under it, then reinstalled it. That's why you see mat in one picture and no mat in another. The engine is the original Super Hurricane Six that has NOT been rebuilt. It runs like a mad bear, but has not received any chrome, touch up paint, or "pretty stuff". This is not one of Jay Leno's showboats. It is a real daily driver still very capable of doing what it was built to do. If I had more time, the engine compartment was the next area I was going to dress up. On Aug-13-10 at 18:18:15 PDT, seller added the following information: The Jeep had some undercoating done in the past, but if I were able to keep it I would have it steam cleaned and recoated with something as it has worn off in places. I have added some pics to show the solid condition of the undercarriage and the cab and box mounts. On Aug-13-10 at 18:58:05 PDT, seller added the following information: Some other details you might be interested in: I have added a battery disconnect switch under the hood for long term winter storage. And because the truck had to be available to the first volunteer responder, it has a cute little toggle ignition instead of a key. They kept it locked in a building, as do I, so this works fine for me. I will include a Willys key ignition if the winner wants to change that out.
