This vehicle is a family-owned vehicle. I purchased it in 2001 with 115,000 miles. I have been very proactive on conducting maintenance; I have only ever had one roadside problem in 9 years; back in 2004, when the alternator died. This is a great car. It would make the perfect car for a teenager because it's very reliable, safe, and has a great sound system. However, some aspects of the exterior and interior are showing the car's age. I will list everything that I can in the interest of full disclosure, but I am selling the car AS-IS, so I cannot make any guarantees or warranties. Another important thing if you win this auction: this car MUST BE RETRIEVED BY THE WINNER ON OR BEFORE THURSDAY AUGUST 12, 2010, which is two days after the auction closes. I am moving cross-country, and I will not be available after that date. Pros: Well-maintained, no engine problems. Almost-new high-performance tires (installed 8,193 miles ago in Oct 2009). Essentially the same thing as a Toyota Corolla (this car was manufactured by Toyota at the Toyota-GM joint venture plant known as NUMMI in Fremont, California). Alloy wheels. Kenwood CD/MP3 player. Kenwood speakers. Small amp under the driver's seat. Good gas mileage - 29.3 miles per gallon, calculated average over the past 12 months (30 fill-ups), primarily city driving in Charlotte. I have all the maintenance records from the past 9 years. I had my mechanic inspect it yesterday; he gave it a clean bill of health except for noticing that the drive belts are getting old and the left-front wheel cover is loose. Cons: Drive belts are getting old and the left-front wheel cover is loose. Starter doesn't sound good when you turn the ignition. Headliner is coming down. Air conditioner doesn't work so well, and the vents don't stay put in any particular direction. Cigarette lighter works, but I can't get it or its wires back into the dashboard. Back seat has a few cigarette burns in the upholstery (from the previous owner; the car does NOT smell like smoke; I think the previous owner had occasional passengers that smoked but didn't smoke herself). Upholstery is stained in several places, front and back (I have a two-year-old). Cushion of the driver's seat is worn and lacking support. Dent in the front bumper where my wife rear-ended a trailer hitch. Few rust spots each a couple millimeters across. Floor of the trunk that covers up the spare tire is sagging. One headlight is older than the other, so they are noticeably different hues. Interior reading light is flaky. Tilt function of the rear-view mirror is broken (you'll have to swivel it with your hand rather than using the tab at the bottom). Hail damage resulted in numerous small dents on the hood, roof, and trunk. Please do not make me a "Buy It Now" offer. I am 100% committed to allowing this auction to run its course. On Aug-08-10 at 06:11:33 PDT, seller added the following information: *I forgot to mention that the hood release is difficult to use; sometimes it requires two people to open the hood: one to pull the release inside the cabin, and one to pull up on the hood at the same time. That's the way I do it; my wife claims that she can open the hood by herself.
