Vehicle Detail
I'm selling this as an Off-Road vehicle only not a daily driver. I bought this Jeep in 1998 with about 45,000 mile for a family daily driver. The engine slung a rod at 200,000 mile in 2004. I replaced the engine with a 1993 4.0 from another Cherokee. At that time I started to build it as a family Off-Roader. Now the family is getting older and is pursuing other interests. I only get to use it 1 time a year in the manor it was built for which doesn’t justify keeping. * I had lots of people asking about why I said "Off-Road" only, not a daily driver when listed the first time. I set it up for crawling rocks and being used off road. This Jeep has no sway bars. The tires are unbalanced and are mounted on bead lock wheels. I have also run water in the front tires and at this time they have about 5 gallons left in them. It is registered and insured. I have also driven it on the street. As it is it handles fine up to about 45/55 mph. With a different set of wheels and balanced tires I'm sure it would be even better. I'm also not sure about the laws in other states but in Florida the bumpers are too high to be legal. We also do not have smog testing in my area. The only emission equipment missing is the catalytic converter, so with a converter added it should pass a smog test. I just don't want anyone to think they are going to jump in this Jeep and drive it 200 miles home. Now if you want to put it on a trailer and take it to some place like Gray Rock, Morris Mt., or Coal Creek for a long weekend, this is the Jeep for you. I also had a few people want to trade other Jeeps for it. The only thing I would be willing to trade for is a Victory Vegas or Jackpot 2006 or newer. -’93 4.0L H.O. 6 cylinder, all stock for reliability except for a PowerRaid throttle body spacer. - AW4 automatic, all stock with the addition of an oil cooler, and Radesigns manual Baja shifter. You can run the trans in several modes, full auto, or with the flip of a switch full manual. You can even control torque converter lock-up, off, on, or auto. All this makes it possible to hold 1st gear or any gear for that matter unlike a stock Cherokee shifter. - Transfer case or cases in this Jeep are a combination of NP231 and Dana 300. I used a kit form D&D Machine to use the front half of a 231 transfer case, removing the front out put, clocking it around to the passenger side. Then mounting a D300 to the 231. The D300 is flipped to a drivers side front output. The D300 is operated by a Northwest Fab twin cable shifter. All this gives great control when rock crawling. You have 1:1 high range, 2:63 or 2:73 low range or 7:17 low low range. You can also select front drive only, rear drive only, or 4 wheel drive in any of the ranges selected. - Front axle is from a 1979 Ford F350 and is a high pinion Dana 60 with king pin knuckles. It has Warn premium hubs, Yukon spool and Yukon 5:38 gears. Entire axle was rebuilt about 200 trail miles ago. New bearings seals, rotors, calipers ect. Brackets are from Ruff Stuff and Ballistic Fab. High steer arms are Ballistic Fab. springless arms. Drag link and cross over steering are from Bulletproof steering featuring ¾” heims joints. - Rear axle is from a 1980 GMC C30 and is a Corporate GM 14 bolt full floater. It has a welded differential with Yukon 5:38 gears. Axle was converted to disk brakes using Ruff Stuff caliper brackets and ¾ ton GM rotors and calipers. It also has been lightly shaved and has a Ruff Stuff pinion guard and diff cover. Traction bar is made from 1-1/2” by .250 D.O.M with Ruff Stuff ¾” heims at all connection points. - Brakes as mentioned above are 4 wheel disk, 1 ton Ford calipers in front and ¾ ton GM in rear. They are operated by a ’93 GMC C3500 hydro-boost and master cylinder. Stopping is never a problem, even in low low, in gear, going down hill. - Steering gear box is an AGR box for a Wrangler. Jeep also has an AGR rock ram. To supply enough hydraulic pressure and flow to stop and steer the Jeep was converted to a PSC ‘N’ style pump. Also has a power steering cooler so no fade. - Suspension started life as a Rusty’s Off-Road 8” long arm kit. Front has Billstin 5150 12” shocks, rear has Doestec 12” shocks mounted up through floor to cage. - Interior has been mostly removed, no carpet and no headliner. It has a full roll cage, with PRP competition high back seats in front with 5-point harnesses. Bench seat in rear with stock seat belts but places to mount 5- point harnesses. Stock center consol was removed and a new center consol was added to house the transmission and transfer case controls. - Other notables - Tuned CB mounted overhead. - 10” fan mounted overhead. - Electric engine fan controlled by a manual switch. - Roll cage padded in any place a person could hit their head in a roll. - Front fenders and rear quarter panels are covered in 3/16” steel with flares also made of 3/16” steel. - 2”x4” rock rails down each side. - Custom front winch bumper with Warn M8000 winch with rope. - C 4x4 rear bumper - Rear shackle mounts reinforced and moved. - Labaron hood vents. - Optima battery - Belly skid plate - Tires are Irok 39.5x13.50x16” with 90% tread left. Wheels are Crager Soft “8”s with Ruff Stuff weld on 39 bolt bead locks. A ¼” bead was added to the inside of the wheel for a larger inner bead sealing area. - Jeep has bumps, bangs, scratches and dents of an Off-Road Jeeps but still looks like a Cherokee. I repainted it 3 or 4 years ago with Dupont industrial Emron, Fire Protection Red and it seems to be holding up pretty well. Power windows and locks still work. Windshield has a crack. - Things that don’t work. No A/C, radio inop. , cruise control inop., speedometer quit about 5 years ago. Also note: this Jeep has NO catalytic converter and will not pass an emission test! - Things that need repaired. Bushings in rear springs and front control arms need to be replaced. Front drive shaft c/v and front transfer case yoke need to be replaced. The shaft and yoke will be repaired before sale. All Off-Road stuff will go with Jeep. Tow straps, tree saver, new hi-lift jack, jack base, “D” rings, storage box, 3 fire extinguishers that are mounted in Jeep, first-aid kit. Also any spare parts I have that will still fit on the Jeep. Shipping note. If you use the "buy in now" option I will deliver it for free within 500 miles of my home. Zip code 32034 If you have any questions please ask. I'm sure I can get the info or additional pictures to help you make your purchase easy.
