Vehicle Detail

This is a 1919 Cleveland Single , in great shape. It was built in Cleveland Ohio and was a popular comuter in the teens and twenties. Many of these were still being used in the 50's and 60's . I bought this a few years ago in restored condition and have done nothing to it, since, except ride it. It ran well and . The paint is nice and bright and shiny it makes a nice display. It is a two speed two stroke , with a kick starter. They are very simple to operate and run faster than you might think. If you plan on riding it much I suggest you go thru gas, plug and just give it the once over , as I haven't ridden it in about three years. This bike was made by the same company that made the Clevelad fours , which sell in excess of 100,000. K It is a well respected American Brand. The bike looks nice from front to back, paint is sharp good spokes and nipples , tries are sound , really is just a nice all round bike. The bike was restored by a Honda Dealer ,out west and I was told it sat in his showroom on display for a few years. I have had it in my dispaly and it always draws a lot of attention. I always want to be precise in my discriptions , so here goes. The bike was last run about three years ago. it was a wild ride. I live on top of a large hill in a sub. about a half mile down the hill it comes to a T with a house dead ahead. I have a bad leg , so instead of kicking it, I just coasted down the hill and popped it in to gear. Well the throttle is controlled by a lever on the bars instead of a twist grip . that's easy but there are two levers on top of each other and I forgot to check which one was throttle and which was advance. so down the hill I go and I'm thinking this little bike will just fire up and putt along at a very slow speed. But I was way too laid back about the whole thing. So when I popped the clutch, it was in second , instead of first. The lever I was moving was the advance , not the throttle. the throttle was set wide open. so when it started it didn't go Putt Putt Putt. Instead it went E- yoooohiE wing a ding ding! With in a split second it was flying full speed down the hill and I mean fast. Now about this time , I'm trying to find soething that controls the throttle, remember where the brake is , and how can I slow this beast down. My first and second movements did not accomlish that. So now I'm over the steep crest of the hill and it is WFO, I'm not swearing becuse I was too busy praying. When I finally pulled the throttle lever back I also had got it into neutral at the same moment. Great except now I was still flying down the hill and hadn't found the brake pedal yet. All of this was interupted by a life altering choice I had to make . A side street was coming up , which I knew went back up hill. I had to choose, keep going straight down and maybe hit that house at 60 MPH, or try and make that sharp corner and head back up the hill. I dropped all efforts to slow down and threw the bike hard into the corner. Like a dirt tracker, diving into turn one. Whew ! I made it , then figured out what I was doing and rode the bike around. Ride impressions, they were an inexpensive comuter bike and are surprisingly fast and stable for as light weight and the small engine size. They have a lot of torque and once you get it into second they would have kept up with any city traffic and would have been a nice ride for a farmer going to town. Back to condition. its got nice paint everything seems to be there , there is a paint bubble on the gas tank and real minor rust on some of the nipple areas of the wheels. easy to clean up. Just to cover myself and so you know there is some rust on the brake band area. this is not a perfect bike but a nice ride or show bike. Some one could have a lot of fun riding this at AMCA shows or around their town. sold with a bIll of sale . I will load on your transport. You pay all shipping . no warranty sold as -is and a warning. Don't take your first ride down hill! and check it over carefully before riding . figure out where everything is. It is a simple bike to use. I'm sure I forgot something, so just ask. The reserve is low and its ready to go. good luck bidding
