1966 Ford Fairlane 500 2 Door Hard Top 7.27 update: I have added pictures showing the underside of the car. I bought this gorgeous Fairlane from the original owner ( A lifetime Shriner as you can see from the decal on the rear window ) last year after a long search for a 66' 2 door hard top in good condition that hadn't been tricked out and/or stupidly modified, though adding dual pipes ( dual headers are already in place ), a larger carb and a set of nice Torque Thrust wheels to dramatically alter the look and increase the performance of the car and you'd have yourself a very inexpensive 66' 2 door muscle car. -Trust me when I tell you that these are very, very hard to find in this original condition. Unfortunately financial circumstances are forcing me to very reluctantly sell. This is truly a survivor with no tricked out anything and it runs and drives great. I would not hesitate to drive cross country tomorrow especially now that I recently had the entire transmission rebuilt at a cost of $ 725.00, a complete tune up, 2 barrel carburetor rebuild and new rear shocks at the total cost of $ 1,075.00 This 44 year old Fairlane that was only driven an average of 2800 miles per year and garage kept the entire time. If you have been looking for an ideal restoration candidate or want a great classic for not much money, here you go. I know that buying a car on eBay can be a tough experience and I will do my very best to describe absolutely everything I know about the car and every little detail so there are no surprises and you'll be comfortable knowing exactly what you'll be getting. So lets start. This car was built in Kansas City, Kansas and delivered to the Ford dealership in Seattle, Washington. Exterior Paint: Ivy Green Metallic- Has been repainted and has many nicks, dings and small scratches from regular usage. Shines up nicely. Body: In nice shape overall. One small area of rust found in the drivers side rear fender as shown clearly in the pics below. Roads are not salted here and the undercarriage is in nice, solid shape. There is a dent on the top of the passenger side front fender, a couple scrapes on the passenger side hood and a small dent on the top of the middle hood or nose. This was caused by hitting a security gate that wasn't locked open properly at about 3 MPH. Should be an easy fix and I've been quoted $ 230.00 for the repair and paint. Most people don't even notice it. I used touch up paint to seal the paint cracks to stop any corrosion. Trim: Front and rear bumpers are in excellent shape. All trim is present and accounted for. There are some small bumps and dents on some pieces, most notably the driver rear tail-light frame. Tires, wheels and hubcaps are all in nice shape. All emblems are present. Glass: All glass is original and in great shape. No cracks. Interior: Ivy Gold with Split bench seats. Factory clock delete. Non-smoking car. Front seat in excellent shape with the exception of a split on the seat of the drivers side. I've placed a rubber mat there to stop the split from growing. Rear seat in excellent condition with no rips or tears. Headliner is perfect. Carpet is original and worn though serviceable. Door panels are excellent with wear on the paint at the bottom of the driver's side door where your foot would push it open. Dash is in excellent shape with one small split in the speaker grill section. Bulbs burnt out in the dash and need to be replaced. Remote trunk unlock in glove box.The metallic plastic trim has sun fading as does the rear package tray. The radio works great as does the heater and all the vents. The remote drivers side mirror is finicky but works fine. Power steering works great as do the brakes. Seat belts front and rear, all working. Drivers arm rest has wear and a small piece of foam missing on the corner. Original vinyl trunk mat shows normal 44 years of wear and tear. Complete with original OEM jack assembly. Mechanical: Engine replaced with new 302 in 1977 when the 289 threw a rod. Original owner told me it has around 80,000 miles on it. It runs like a top with lots of power and starts right up on the first turn of the key. Transmission totally rebuilt in April 2010. Shifts smoothly with no hesitation. Power steering and brakes are excellent, all charging systems work as intended. Does not leak or burn oil. I am sure you'll have other questions so please let me know what they are and I'll do my best to describe. For sale locally so it might be gone quickly, who knows?
