Vehicle Detail
1942 FORD GPW (MILITARY JEEP). FORD SCRIPT BACK - EARLY VERSION WW-2 JEEP This is a World War II veteran if there ever was one. It is an original early production Ford built GPW Jeep with the "FORD SCRIPT" rear panel. Early history is unknown. In recent years it has been used as a "hunting" jeep to access remote areas of central and western Pennsylvania. It seems remarkably original, down to its blackout lights, data tags, etc. The only glaring modification it has suffered seems to be the removal of the rear spare and its carrier (missing all together). Also, the top is serviceable but it is definitely not the origin OEM top or frame. There is some rust but nothing terrible. It was kept in a barn for most of its life. Supposedly, it was purchased WW-2 military surplus in the mid to late 1950's. It has some goofy bird decals on it and the paint is lousy. It has a new battery. It starts right up and it seems to run pretty well. The brake pedal was down all the way when it arrived to us. We had the brakes bled and fluid added, which gave it decent pedal and now they seem to work. Our advice is to rebuild the entire brake system before going very far, to be on the safe side. There is a patch of metal on the one side, which seems to have been there a while. We assume that this was some sort of crude way of dealing with a rust issue, but we have not removed the plate to find out exactly what is going on behind it. It does have its original rear folding seat. It appears to be mechanically correct and original. We are not experts, so best to come and see it or ask for photos of specific items or areas. The vehicle is available to be seen in Lynchburg, Virginia. It is sold with a clear title. It is sold completely AS-IS Where-is. If the car is sold, or a deposit to purchase has been tendered, this auction will be ended prematurely. With special circumstances, with a substantial non-refundable deposit, we may consider giving the buyer extra time to come up with the total purchase price. This will only be considered for those who contact us in advance of the auction end and work out the details to a mutually acceptable agreement. In short, we want to sell the car, so if the buyer is reasonable we will do our best to make it easier to do business. Again, this sort of arrangement has to be worked out in advance of the auction ending. We will not accept any bids from anyone with less then 10 EBay transactions, and less then a 95% positive feedback rating. If you do have less then 10 transactions and would like to bid on the vehicle please use the "ask seller a question" link on the right hand side of the page to contact us. You need to get our permission to bid before, not after you bid. The request to bid must be made through the "ask seller a question" feature.
