1949 CHEVY DELUXE 2-DOOR POST. ORIGINAL, VERY RUST FREE.....IN "DRIVER" QUALITY CONDITION. DETAILS/HISTORY: I am the third owner, I have an original title with the original owner's name on it. Low actual miles, believed to be so but sold mileage exempt. Always a Nebraska car, original and about as rust free as you can imagine!! In the past year, the following has been done by the previous owner: **WATERPUMP..NEW RADIATOR AND FLUSH....GAS TANK RELINED AND NEW FLOAT FOR THE GAS GUAGE....HEAT GUAGE REPAIRED....TUNED UP AND NEW BATTERY. Still on 6-volt system. Orig 216 motor. MECHANICAL: The car starts easily with no noises and runs smoothly. There is a slight "stream" of blue smoke when revved up or under acceleration on the highway. The motor has oil seepage but doesnt' seem to leak when parked for an extended period of time. All guages work perfectly!!! The transmission shifts like butter!!! The clutch seems strong with NO slippage. It runs and drives great!! I recently drove it 30 miles on the interstate at 60 MPH, it's straight and tight. It attracted more interest on this trip than a hemi Cuda!! The brakes stop it well with no pulling. COSMETICS: Please read carefully I'll try and be as accurate as possible. The car had an "ameatuer" paint job and interior done many years ago. The paint is just "driver" quality but it looks respectible. Same with the interior. Modern material was used on the seats and door panels, same with the carpet inside the car and trunk. It looks OK but not original. Let's talk about the stainless trim. It's all there but several pieces are dinged up. In MY OPINION they're not bad enough to not be saved. The bumpers and grill are nice and shiny but original and could be rechromed if you choose to restore this car. All in all the car is pretty straight. There's the normal dings etc that you'd expect in a 61 year old car. Glass is good, a couple rock chips in the windshield but VERY SMALL. There is a slight discoloration around vent wings. THE UNDERSIDE: Floors and trunk are very solid, the underside has minor surface rust as shown in picture. The body mounts are EXCELLENT!! I don't think there's any big surprises here. SUMMARY: I have done my best to "paint an accurate picture" of this car. If you have ANY QUESTIONS it's up to you to ask, or feel free to inspect it in person.
