Vehicle Detail
Up for grabs is a 1988 Suzuki Samurai 4x4! This monster we've so cleverly nicknamed 'The Green Meany' is truly one of a kind. It features several desired qualities for a Rock Crawler or a daily driver. The Good Qualities : -1.6L 4-Cyl. Carbureted Engine With 5 Speed Manual Transmission (Roughly 18-20 MPG) -30x10.5 In. Tires With 95% Tread, 15 In. Aluminum Rims ($350 each)BFGoodRich MudTerrain Tires ($250 each) -Full Spare With Same Tire And Rim -Rag Top/Convertible -Rhino Line Type Of Coating On All Floor Surfaces -100% Working Manual Lock In Hubs -100% Rust Free -Plug Holes For Easy Water Drainage If Needed The Bad Qualities : -Manual Steering (No Power Steering Pump - Not Recommended For Inexperienced Drivers) -Exterior Door Handles Do Not Work (This Is An Easy Fix - Found Handles On Ebay For $50/Pair - Keep Window Down To Enter Vehicle) -Rag Top Doesn't Leak But Is Very Old And Should Be Replaced -Small Oil Leak (I Believe The Leak Is From The Oil Pan, But Not Positive - Only Leaks A Dime Sized Amount Every 24 Hours) -Has Air Conditioning But It Is Currently Not Working. (The Compressor Seems To Be Free Turning So It May Just Need Some R-22 Put In It But I'm Not Sure) -Recently, The Vehicle Blew A Head Gasket. I Did Not Operate The Vehicle After This Happened. Bonus : -Another one of the perks to this vehicle is that I'm including my 2x 12 In. Kicker Comp VR Subwoofers with a combined 1600 Watts, 700+ Watt Pioneer Amplifier, and a brand new (only 2 weeks old) JVC CD-Player. The CD-Player has a USB/IPOD Port, plays Mp3 files, and you can choose from over 30 colors for the display (including a Green setting that matches the vehicles exterior perfectly). Additional Info : -The two bucket seats have been replaced with more rugged and comfortable seats from a different vehicle. Although I've only tried it a couple of times, I have had this vehicle off-roading and it does very well. It climbs like a monkey, no matter what terrain, and the 4x4 works flawlessly. I've never had it in snow, but the previous owner said it handles like a dream in snowey/icey weather. In the mornings, it takes a couple of cranks to start I don't know if this is due to it's age or the fact that it's carbureted, but as far as I can tell, it doesn't have any real effect on the way it drives or operates after the engine has been running for a minute or so. As far as I can tell, it's never been in any major accidents, but the previous owner mentioned that the owner before him had hit a deer with it, causing some minor damage to the grill. You can see the remnants of the accident, but you have to look for it. The body and paint still look like new. It has fog lights, but they don't work. I'm not sure if it's a fuse or the wiring or bulbs or what, but I've never really needed them so I never looked into it. The horn was replaced at some point with a very unique air horn, and the sound it produces resembles a horn in a 50's - 60's vehicle. People love it. The tires, rims, and lift kit alone are valued at roughly $3,000. Considering the blown Head Gasket, the vehicle will either have to be repaired to be driven, or hauled by a towing vehicle. If you plan to repair the vehicle yourself, you would be more than welcome to leave it at my house to work on it until it's repaired. If you plan to have it fixed by a local mechanic, I can assist you in finding the right mechanic. If you plan to have it hauled, I would be willing to either meet you up to 30 miles from my home, or assist you in getting quality directions to my house. Will do anything in my power to make pick-up easy and hassle free. To be honest, I'm selling this vehicle because my father thought that it would satiate my desire for a Jeep, and it failed. All in all, it's a great vehicle, but it's just not my style. I'd rather hand it over to someone who can appreciate it to the maximum. Also, I plan to use the money to make repairs to a motorcycle I own. Disclaimer : So, there you have it. I've described the vehicle to the best of my ability, and have told every flaw that I can think of. I will not be held responsible for any unexpectancies that come up after the buyer comes to get the vehicle. I am not a mechanic and have no real experience in the field, so I think it best to make your own choices about the vehicle rather than taking my word for it's condition. Good Luck and Happy Bidding! On Jul-12-10 at 17:39:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Update : I tried to get some pictures of the engine/transmission as requested, but I'm having some trouble with my camera. Sorry for the inconvenience. If I get the camera working before the bid is over, I'll put the pictures up as soon as possible. If the question of whether the engine is a 1.3L or a 1.6L is going to effect your decision to buy, please do not bid. I am not 100% sure which it is, so if you are not okay with a little surprise, do not bid. Thanks.
