1962 R 69 S.....NO RESERVE.................Vin # 656873 .....Matching #'s.....Odometer reads 17xxx..........This motorcycle was purchased by the present owner for the sole purpose of performing a ground up restoration.....Failing health prohibited his plan from being realized.....Although it was running when it was acquired, I seem to remember that it really wasn't ridden all that much, and that it found it's way to the "project" side of the shop in fairly short order.....Please be advised, that although this bike has had the kick starter gently pumped with a certain regularity to keep the motor moving freely, it has not been started in 6 or 7 years.........OK...The "pros and cons"..........The Cons would commerce with the fact that it has not been run in several years.....Then, of course, there would be it's obvious appearance due to age, use, and circumstances.....As is often the case, there are, indeed, a few missing bits, and they are as follows: No gas cap lock key...No steering lock key...The plastic slider for the ignition switch has gone missing...No return spring on the stock side stand...No stock center stand due to missing mounting tabs on the underside of the frame...The tool box lid needs a hinge...No fuel taps...No battery...No horn...No tools...No tire pump...No owners manual...No shop rag..........Both fenders have varying degrees of denting and pinching, but the structural integrity remains, and they are not at all beyond complete straightening and repair...The rims are certainly serviceable, but are plenty rusty, especially in the channels, as are the spokes...As a matter of fact, the chrome is a bit iffy throughout...Needless to say, the tires and all of the rubber bits are older...The electrics harness has no weird splices or cuts, but again, is older...Front brake cable is tight and sticky..........The Pros?.....1962, with early matching early matching #'s.....I believe it to be mostly complete, save for the already mentioned missing tidbits.....When depressing the kick starter, there appears to be plenty of compression.....The clutch seems to have plenty of spring....It has the large tank, and it seems to be pretty clean, as well as dent free. Present, however, would be a couple of fairly sizable paint chips, and more than a little superficial scratching.....The head light bucket is structurally clean and undamaged, although the paint is badly worn.....The transmission had been rebuilt not long before it was acquired, and the rear gear was fair.....The frame (aside from the missing center stand and mounting tabs), the Earles front end, and the triple clamp all appear to be structurally complete and straight.....A little bonus would be the presence of an older, rear mounted, Flanders side stand...............So...I guess the upshot is, that with a little bit of work, one could probably get it to bump around the neighborhood "as is" in fairly short order, but ultimately, the restoration potential is definitely there!....................This sale goes forward AS-IS, WHERE-IS, with no guarantees or warranties either expressed or implied....The pick up, shipping, and/or transportation will be the sole responsibility of the buyer...I will, however, be happy to assist and coordinate with transportation logistics....Those interested parties with a feedback score of 2 or less would be encouraged to contact me in advance to avoid bid cancellations...............................Thanks for lookin', and have a nice day......................
