Note to bidders: If you have feedback lower than 10 you must email me prior to bidding to review my terms and conditions. Read below about the work that goes into getting one of these bikes into the everyday-rider condition that this bike enjoys. The E’s were ahead of their time in the early 80’s and aren’t out of place on the highway or back roads still today. This particular E has some nice extras and none of the noises or rattles common to these bikes if they have not been ridden and maintained carefully. I have a 2-bay shop and a few part-time Suzuki nuts who love to put GS bikes in primo condition for your daily riding and viewing pleasure. I look for low miles examples of primarily GS1100bikes and then we get them looking and running as close to new as possible. We have sent bikes and parts to Europe, Canada, South America and all over the US. I need a few of you GS lovers out there to step up and buy some of our bikes or else as my guys keep threatening me, they may be forced to get real jobs. We can’t have that! After 60+ GS restorations in the past 6 years we have identified the weaknesses and common problems that these durable, well-designed machines suffered from. We go over each bike with these things in mind and make logical, professional repairs, upgrades and minor modifications to improve function and reliability. GS guys know I am referring to charging system problems, cold blooded starting, fuel system and carb problems and of course a long list of things that happen over time to any machine. We incorporate Suzuki factory service bulletins that have been issued over the years and we keep an eye out on the GSResources site and web forums for good ideas. We prefer genuine Suzuki OE parts where available including filters and gaskets because they tend to fit and last better than aftermarket parts. We select after market parts based on experience with what works best. We also take pride in making these bikes easy on the eyes. Whenever possible we leave the excellent quality factory paint alone. The alloy case covers, peg mounts and trim are usually giving up their clearcoat so we strip them and professionally polish them to a chrome-like finish. Pricing Note Pricing of used bikes may be transparent—but the quality of what you are buying is not. You can find running e’s for $1200-$1800 and up. But it typically takes $1500 or more to get one into the shape of this auction bike so you can you do the math. Remember, you are getting a completely sorted out bike with a lot of Suzuki experience built into the deal. Check with a few other sellers, even dealers, and ask if they drain fuel tanks, remove and tend batteries and check the humidity in their storage areas frequently during the winter? Auction Bike Details This ride-anywhere-right-now 1100E has a fine-running, stock, original motor. Clutch is solid, transmission shifts cleanly without issues, starts nicely, pulls strongly through all gears. We believe the 16,000 miles to be accurate based on performance and our evaluation of various wear points. However, we replaced the gage cluster on this bike to address a broken re-set button and some electrical issues. The new gage shows 10,800 but it is an otherwise identical 150 mph cluster from an ‘83E. We jetted the carbs to take advantage of the header and high flow filters. Choke pick tubes were also enlarged slightly to improve cold starting. The bike starts instantly and pulls aggressively and smoothly as far up the rev range as you want to go. No trans, clutch basket, engine whirr or any other E no-no sounds. All in all a good rider. Tires and wheels: Front 100 90 19 fresh Conti Blitz Rear 130 90 17 fresh Conti Blitz Wheels; decent originals with no dings or curb rash New 630 chain, good sprockets Front Suspension: Tight seals with initial air pre-load set to 8 psi. Original anti-dive breaking hardware still in place, working normally, leak-free Oil & Lubes: Castrol SAE 10-40 Engine/Transmission Brake system: Flushed front and rear cylinders, refilled DOT 4 fluid Brake lights work from front and rear switches Charging System: Replaced all charging system connectors Good battery Verified charging voltage @ 13.8 Bodywork, frame, engine cases, side covers Original paint on tank, good base clear re-spray of rest of bodyworks Plastic frame covers; perfect tabs, new OE decals, rubber frame grommets replaced with NOS Suzuki parts Seat: professional re-cover on stock seat. Tank; clean inside, a few small nicks and scratches Frame; straight and clean; some minor corrosion in nooks and crannies Sidestand working smoothly; centerstand was removed Engine case covers; removed, polished, factory emblems replaced with NOS Accessories: Kerker 4 into one header (on the loud side, very authoritative on down shifts) Washable pod mesh air filters, just serviced with K&N cleaner and filter oil Dyna S ignition/coil system Comments Some corrosion showing on peg mounts, brake banjo’s and other fasteners. Ignition switch has been gouged a bit but still works fine, just looks a little buggered. Regarding GS bikes If you are new to the GS bikes they are quite durable and reliable and better after a few tweaks to the carburetion and electrical systems that we do here. Suzuki used a roller bearing crank assembly with a low pressure/high volume oil pump making bottom end failures almost impossible (yeah, I know, anything can be over-revved). The CDI ignitions were maintenance free, shaft drives were quiet and durable, the handling and braking were above average then and up to today’s requirements if the bike is set up and serviced correctly. Suzuki roller bearing cranks with low pressure/high volume oil pumps made bottom end failures very rare. The CDI ignitions were maintenance free, shaft drives were quiet and durable, high quality o-ring chains were clean and low maintenance, the handling and braking were above average then and still up to todays requirements if the bike is set up and serviced correctly. Please Note: My prices will obviously be higher than most of the GS bikes you see on eBay. If you can do the work yourself described here, you dont need me but I do have a loyal customer following of riders who mostly just want to ride and not worry about the details that we tend to here. I base the price largely on the amount of time and materials we have into the bikes. We do contract restorations or repairs for fussy clients and we are frequently retained to inspect bikes for collectors. Contact me for particulars. Besides the current auction bike I have a pristine 1983 (7k original miles) GS1100E, several other low miles ’83 E’s (recent Ebay listings) and an 80 GS750 E with only 5k miles. Buy this one and you can spec it out to your personal tastes. Additional photos available at http://suzuki-gs-bikes.smugmug.com/ I have a small team of craftsmen including a factory trained Suzuki technician and other experts. We try hard to make these old bikes as reliable as possible by incorporating Suzuki service bulletins and addressing the weak points with logical upgrades. However, a vintage bike is typically not going to be as reliable as a newer bike and if you are a stickler for cosmetic details you may not be happy with a bike that has some blems. I maintain a high buyer satisfaction rating via accurate descriptions. Of course you know by now that any used vehicle is sold as-is/where-is without warrantee expressed or implied.
