i just lowered the buy it now price again. THE CAR NEEDS TO GO AS I AM LEAVING OUT OF THE COUNTRY FOR A WHILE SOON. a few more things about the car. the winning bidder will also receive 8 brand new autolite 25 spark plugs and new fuel filter for car was gonna put in but dont have time anymore. also a brand new battery was just installed in it about 30 miles ago. hello, you are bidding on a one of a kind very rare car. this is a 1989 ford mustang lx sport 5.0 coupe ssp edition. this is a real ssp "special services package" not a knock off. you know how rare these are and less then 15,000 total were produced and how many are really left ? my guess less then 4,000 total from 82-93 model years still exist. here is some info on the ssp version : The Ford Mustang SSP was a lightweight police car package based on the Ford Mustang produced between 1982-1993. The car was meant to provide a speedier option for police departments in lieu of other full sized (and heavier) sedans on the market at the time. The SSP abbreviates the designation Special Service Package, a special Foxbody Mustang trim made exclusively for law enforcement use. One of the taglines used by Ford to help sell this car was This Ford chases Porsches for a living...[1] The units served a number of uses, and were often customized to suit each law enforcement agency's particular needs. Law enforcement agencies from municipal to government agencies bought nearly 15,000 examples of these units. Many still exist today, either still in some role of law enforcement, from display cars to DARE cars, or in the hands of collectors and racers In 1982, the California Highway Patrol asked the Ford Motor Company to produce a capable and lightweight police car due to the bulkiness of current police cars like the Ford Fairmont and LTD/Crown Victoria and the problems incurred with Chevrolet Camaros with their camshafts[2] and engine problems[3] at pursuit speeds. Taking the Fox 5.0 Mustangs in production at the time, Ford produced the Ford Mustang SSP (originally labeled Severe Service Package, renamed in 1983 to Special Service Package) and modified them to suit the needs of the police and law enforcement departments. Nearly 15,000 of these special units were made from 1982 until their discontinuation in 1993 to over 60 law enforcement organizations and government agencies. Their roles ranged from general patrol to pursuit units, with some used in special duties like drug interdiction to academy training units. Several units were specially tasked to help land the Lockheed U2 Spyplane. [edit] Specifications The Mustang SSP was essentially a more rugged version of the 5.0 Mustang, with added features not available to the general public. Available options included: Engine, 5.0 L HO V8 with Sequential Multi-Port InjectionForged pistons, roller cam (Hypereutectic pistons 1993)Engine oil coolerAircraft-type silicone radiator hoses and clamps5-speed manual or 4-speed AOD transmissionAuto transmission fluid coolerBrakes, power disc front/drum rear with rotor shieldsStainless steel factory headersDual exhaust system w/stainless tipsFuel tank capacity — 15.4 U.S. gallons (58 L)Heavy duty stabilizer bars, front and rearFull instrumentation with in-dash tachometer130 and 135 amp internally and externally regulated heavy duty alternators2 Piece VASCAR speedometer cableCertified calibrated speedometer 0-140 mph(1982-early 1989) and 0-160 mph (late 1989-1993)Non-operational courtesy lights (safety feature)Relocated rear deck releaseSingle key locking doors/trunkReinforced floor pansFull size spare tire15" X 7" cast aluminum wheels Depending on which agency bought them, extras like rollcages (installed by Oregon State Police) and power windows (requested by New York State Police) made each SSP unique to their respective departments. The original configuration of the civilian Mustang with its small rear seat and manual transmission were generally considered ill-suited for a law-enforcement vehicle. Many SSPs had automatic transmissions, to free an officers hand from using the manual transmission stick so that they could use the hand for other duties, such as speaking on a radio. All of the 15,000 Mustang SSP's were of the coupe or "notchback" style cars. mustang muscle magazine did an article on the top 10 most collectible fox body mustangs and the 82-93 ssp was # 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i bought this car recently from a friend who bought it about 7 months ago and didn't drive it. he said he bought it from an elderly gentleman that had it in storage for a while and barely drove it. i was gonna turn it in to a hot rod and then found out it was an sssp. so i decided to sell the car to a collector that will restore it to its original way. most people that buy these vehicles restore them to look like the original police cars and lots of times that requires un-doing a bunch of stuff that the previous owner has done. well you in for a treat !! its all original really no aftermarket mods done. not only that it has 85,100 original miles !!!! the only thing i don't to the car since i had it was flush the engine and put in 5 quarts of new royal purple 5w-30 full synthetic oil and new filter. has the original black leather seats and original interior. the car rubns perfect and pulls hard !!! i drove it for over 2 hours straight over 150 miles and it drove fine. when i bought the car it was already sanded down and primed and ready for paint so the current color is grey primer. the guy who did it did a good job but there are some spots that need to be touched up a little bit. it has no dings ,dents all of that was removed. this rare mustang ssp is a utah highway patrol version. it has dso # 760065 and the 2 buck tags on the engine that say utah special services pkg. how many utah ssp mustangs were there ? ? ? the original color was white. it needs a little tlc but nothing major and is a great vehicle this is an amazing collectors car and would love to see it go in to the hands of someone that will appreciate it. like i said 85,000 original mils is unheard of for these with all original engine and everything works fine. here is a break down or inspection i done of the car. body : very straight with no dents or dings primer-ed Grey right now. headlights and taillights work but driver side headlight has a crack in it very cheap fix. wheels are eagle cobra style aluminum 17" rims with tires that have decent tread left. hood is original and latches fine. engine is all original with nothing done to it except aftermarket filter on cold air induction but could use a good cleaning a/c works perfect and blows very cold and heater blows very hot. there are holes in the pillars from wear the wires for the spot lights were. there is a bolt in the trunk lid that is where the antenna was but the cables for the antenna still lead to the trunk. power steering works fine and doesn't whine at all. brakes are very good. front seats need to be reupholstered but back seat in pristine like new all black leather. interior has no cracks in it but could use a good cleaning. carpet is in good condition as is headliner. all glass is crack free windshield has a small nick in it , and tinted with the exception of the windshield no tint on that. power mirror switch works but not the down function it has an aftermarket cd player am/fm radio that works with front door speakers. dome light works sometimes and sometimes it cuts out. all electrical works fine. e-brake works fine. really everything on this car works fine and i bought it to be a somewhat daily driver . the car just passed smog and is currently registered in Nevada with a clean title. if you have any questions or would like to see the car please fell free to ask. you know how rare these are and in this condition with low miles even rarer !! please make a reasonable good offer this car will get a lot of attention. i tried to be as specific as i could and list everything i know about it so there are no surprises for the new owner. i will only accept cash or certified bank or cashiers check as payment. car is sold as-is as-is with no return or warranty payment must be made with in 5 days of auctions end. shipping the car will have to be done and paid for by you or you can come pick it up it is in las vegas.
