Vehicle Detail
Hey Gang, Amherst County High Auto Shop got a donation. The former owner began to do his own maintenance. Then he tried to customize it with pipes, filter mods, and carb mods, etc. When things turned out badly, he became convinced it was just worn out and dead. So, he stripped all his expensive stuff off it and donated the rest to us. We ran tests on the engine (compression, leak down, etc.) and it all looked great. So, I opened my check book, hit up Ebay, and began acquiring parts to put it back together. It's a long list that included lower frame cross member, pegs, controls, stock airboxes, new filters, new electric fuel pump, new "Santee" aftermarket exhaust, new clutch discs, steels, and springs, a "new old stock" fuel tank, new petcock, and finally, to correct the carb mods, some late model stock carbs. It took 8 test runs, carb removals, rejetting, reinstall, and resync to finally get it right. The engine has plenty of grunt, and runs nice and cool. If you want to run extreme high altitude (Denver, Co.) or just have to be able to overrev it, you'll have to rejet one size smaller and give up some of the lowend grunt. But I like it this way and it will live a long life with this set up. It's not only still alive, it runs sweet. The only things we didn't fix are the neutral indicator light, (I think it needs a switch) and the windshield is a "damaged in shipment" piece we found cheap. It's pretty scratched up, but functional. The budget is done, the school year is over, and we need to get our money out of it so we can go on to the next project. We have a total of $2169.00 in parts, tank, pipes, fluids, etc. Our reserve is set somewhat lower than that. NOTE: Your purchase will benefit the Amherst High Auto Shop Instruction Program and as such, MAY be tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor. ******PLEASE NOTE****** The only warranty I can offer is...when you show up to get it, if you don't like it, don't buy it. We'll cancel the deal and no hard feelings. This bike is 16 years old, and has 30,000+ miles on it. It ain't perfect, but, it is nice and some elbow grease would go a long way toward really making it shine. We have never even washed it. Winning bidder is responsible for local pick-up or shipping arrangements. I have clear title and keys to the shop. We can see it, inspect it, even test drive it anytime. A reasonable deposit at end of auction and payment in full at delivery works for me. Thanks and Happy Bidding.
