Excellent!Near the end of the Cold War in the 1970’s, when the armies of Europe were in need of a transport vehicle that could go anywhere, the answer came in the form of the Mercedes-Benz “Gelandewagen” or “All Terrain Vehicle.” And it truly is just that. There is nowhere this super sport utility vehicle will not go: across mud, snow, rivers, rocks, and anything else that Mother Nature can throw at it, the Gelandewagen will get you there.This particular 300GD was imported new in 1980 by a prominent businessman in the Pacific Northwest. It was later purchased by its current owner who has enjoyed it over the past 20 years. The wagon has always received regular maintenance by Mercedes specialists. The 3.0 liter, five cylinder diesel runs perfectly. No leaks. Amazing low-end torque. Three fully locking differentials. The body is straight with no accidents. As one reviewer said, “The only rounded lines on this truck are found at the tires.” The paint is original and very good with some small scratches and dings from off-road use. Auxiliary German "Rotzler Winden" heavy-duty winch without remote (We have been offered $5000 in the past just for the winch!) Small crack in the windshield. Overall this wagon still looks great after 30 years. Interior is in excellent condition with normal use. All gauges work and register accurately with the exception of the odometer, which has recently stopped functioning. Shows 133,000 kilometers, (82,642 miles.) NEW Michelin tires. A Pioneer CD stereo was also added, which sounds great. Bottom-side is clean with NO RUST. Please see photos. There is a loyal fan base for these utilitarian wagons for off-road events and rallies. Thanks for the dozens of phone calls and e-mails about this G-Wagon. I'm amazed at the response. Just to clarify - it has two locking differentials (front and rear - obviously) not 3 as mentioned. Sorry - slip of the fingers. This rig was just inspected on Tuesday by two local Mercedes service technicians (one is a Mercedes master mechanic who specializes in G-Wagons) and they both pronounced it as EXCELLENT both physically and mechanically. They both want to buy it! IT'S TRUE: NO RUST. Look again at the underside photos. Apparently, this is a rarity with these vehicles. It has always been garaged and not abused. YES - It is ORIGINAL PAINT. The wheels were powder coated recently when the new tires were fitted. This G-Wagon has a known history from new.
