Vehicle Detail
For Sale is an absolutely gorgeous 1977 Fiat 124 Spider I am the third owner and have owned the car for 22+ years. It’s won its class at the “Fiat Freak Out” national meet (happening this weekend in Ashville, NC, by the way), and consistently places each time I bring it. It has always been garaged during my ownership, never driven in the snow and rarely driven in the rain. I should have all of the repair bills and invoices for my period of ownership (22 years). It has only been serviced by highly reputable places with FIAT knowledge over its time with me, including: Fun Imported Autos and Toys, Vernon, CT (860) 871-1990 and Auto Italia, Rockville, MD (301) 340-8394. Danny at FUN or Steve at Auto Italia can vouch for the quality of this car. Steve did the prep work for the sale of this car and saw it most recently. The white paint is the original color, taken down to metal and repainted when restored in 1998 – there is no filler. It is a beautiful lacquer paint job. The Bright Red interior is the original color with matching bright red original convertible top boot. I have photos documenting the rebuild, repaint. The following efforts were accomplished in the restoration: - Rebuilt the engine. - Body skins were straightened and complete paint job with original spec White lacquer (see above). - Wheel wells and underbody sealed against rust. - Engine desmogged and all engine accessories replaced with NEW. - Installed Cromodora Wheels (see below). - New Pirelli tires - Oil Pan protector. - Ansa Free-Flow Exhaust - New Seat Covers for the front seats - Convertible Top is in very good condition - New metal FIAT emblems on vehicle. No cheap plastic. $2000 Cromodora 13” RARE wheels in excellent shape [no curb rash] (original on ’72-‘74’s -not ‘77’s - but they look so good – and impossible to find. (they sell on ebay for 2-3k+) I have the original tool kit and impossible to find original underhood engine heat pads (which have shrunk, as they all do – see photo). It has smooth power and drives very well, and the exhaust has a nice, not overbearing, note. Mechanicals are excellent - runs great, idles smoothly, no smoke. New Battery. Transmission shift smoothly into all gears. Clutch & brakes good. Car body is in great shape because Continental Motors, New Haven, CT (the original dealer) had the car “undercoated” in ’77. The undercoating is in the engine bay and on the underside of the floor boards and has done its job to protect the metal and protected against rust over the first 12 years of the cars life. It is a lovely driver, but will never be a “perfect” show car because of the application of undercoating, particularly in the engine bay. It is a lot of fun at the national meets. Other minor flaws include some fraying of the top (pictured), at the bottom of the driver’s door (pictured). The car has what I believe is its original dealer-supplied AM/FM tape deck (which is sensitive) Every time I drive the car, I get compliments. She is truly spectacular. It breaks my heart to sell her, but it is time to move on. This is an opportunity to purchase an inexpensive convertible classic sportscar. This convertible sportscar gets fantastic mileage (25-27mpg) Summer is here! This car is the perfect gift for your Wife, Husband, Daughter or Son! Just think of the fun you will have with the top down in the gorgeous Italian Convertible! This car has been very reliable, better than my Honda and Audi.
