Vehicle Detail
In 1965, Ford sold 15,000 Fairlane 500 Sports Coupes. This one comes in one of the most popular color combinations with a Vintage Burgandy exterior body and a Wimbledon White top. The interior is Black with a floor mounted shifter for the Cruise-o-matic 3 speed automatic transmission. The seats are front buckets with a console in between and a rear bench seat. This car is equipped with its original AM radio. The 289 c code V8 engine is strong. It runs smooth and it uses no oil. The transmission shifts smoothly with no problems. The car is equipped with power steering and it handles just great. It also rides very well and the radial tires have a lot of treadlife left in them. The body is strong and the undercarriage is excellent. This Fairlane has no rust issues and I see no evidence that it has ever had any. It was new in California and was there all its life until coming to South Carolina in 2001. The mileage listed is from the odometer but I have no way of verifying the actual miles. It is safe to say the car has always been treated well and it is a very well preserved example of the 65 Fairlane. On a personal note, my very first car was one of these and I have owned several over the years. Without exception they have been wonderful performers and very dependable automobiles. The car is correct as per its data plate. 65B 2 door sports coupe XM Vintage burgundy body, wimledon white top 86 Black (interior color) 25E May 25 (production date) 74 Seattle (district code) 6 2.80: 1 (rear axle ratio) 6 C4 dual range automatic transmission Nothing has ever been changed as to color or equipment on the Fairlane, other than the addition of power steering at some point in its past before my ownership. The car is clean. All windows are clean with no problems and they all roll up and down as they should. The brakes are very good as is everything else mechanically on this car. You can show it, or you can get in it and drive all day. It is very dependable. All mechanicals function as they should. It has its factory original seat belts. Both doors open and close easily, as does the trunk and the hood. The engine is clean and detailed nicely. The only known issues with the car; when it sits for long periods, it leaks a small amount of transmission fluid. When driven on any sort of regular basis, it does not leak. I believe the leak comes from the pan. The original AM radio does not work, but it comes with a twin which works fine. There is a small area below the gas cap on the rear valance where a spill took away some paint. Finally, the gas gauge works some times and sometimes it does not work. Everything else about this Fairlane works and performs as it should. Inspections and test drives are not only welcomed, they are encouraged. IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ Please bid to buy and bid only if you are a cash ready buyer. I have clear title to the car. If you wish to fly into the Myrtle Beach airport, I will pick you up and you can drive it home. My description is accurate, but no warranty is expressed or implied. Official bank check (cashiers) for payment please. You may take the car and title as soon as payment clears. The transaction is to be consummated in full no less than 10 days following the ending date of the auction. I had this car listed before. It met reserve, but we wound up with a bidder who failed to perform. He failed to respond to ebay messages, failed to make arrangements to pay and failed to come and get the car. This was my first experience with such a bidder on ebay and it was not pleasant. So please don’t bid unless you are committed to following through. If you want a clean, no rust, appreciating classic car, this is a great one to own. It's not a Mustang. It's not a Camaro. It's a solid and well built Fairlane which has always looked great and been super dependable. I will be happy to answer any questions or provide any additional information. Just contact me via the ebay message center. Thanks!
