This old 1959 Chevy pickup is ready for a new home. So the story goes... The truck was driven by the original owner up until about 3 years ago. He passed away and the truck was given to a nephew were it sat for about a year. He sold it and the truck sat for about two years while the new owner was waiting to hot rod it some day. Some day never came and I was able to acquire the truck unmolested. It is a true survivor and these are getting hard to find untouched. The truck is running, driving, and registered through April 2011. I have a clear California title in my name. The truck clicks, rattles, shakes, bounces and howls down the road like an old truck. This generation of Chevy truck spanned from 1955 to 1959. The only major changes were daul headlights and lower hood for 1958-59. The truck features a Chevy 235 straight six and a manual 3 speed on the column. The engine fires right up and runs fair. The old "stovebolt" has a the usual tired six ticking. I have driven the truck on the freeway and in 100+ degree heat and it has given me no problems. It has new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor. The truck clicks, rattles, shakes, bounces and howls down the road like an old truck. All the charm of this survivor is the aged (patina) look of the body and paint. the body has dings and dents throughout and the paint is faded and oxidized. That being said the truck is solid, it is not a rust bucket. The only rust through I could find is at the rear cab corners which is very common on these trucks. The floors and bed show no signs of rust through. The original wood still ives under the old sheet of steel diamond plate. Looks like there was some body filler used on the passenger door that is starting to crack. The cockpit still retains its original bench seat. The original dash is uncut and still has its original radio delete plate. The truck's electrical system is in working order. The charging system, headlights, taillights, turn signals, and brake lights, and windshield wipers are all working. The horn is not currently working but comes and goes. This truck originally came from the factory with no heater and still does not have one. The truck's windshield is free of cracks or chips. The side windows roll up and down freely but are in fair condition. The driver's side wing window is missing a pin at the top so it does not operate as it should. It does stay closed fine though. The truck features 15 inch steel wheel and original hub caps. The wheels are wrapped in expensive wide white wall Cocker Classic radial tires. These tires have about 300 miles on them. The truck's brakes are in good working order and they do not pull excessively when applied. The steering is fairly tight and it tracks down the road straight. The truck still has matching black and yellow Folsom State Prison made California license plates. These are the correct commercial plates which are getting expensive and hard to find. Overall this truck is good restoration candidate as it is so original. OR leave it as is and just enjoy this old survivor. The odometer reads about 5150 but it has probably rolled over a few times. the speedometer is not currently working so the mileage does not change anyway. The truck is sold where-is as-is no warranty expressed or implied. Shipping and shipping costs are the buyers responsibility. All payments must clear before truck is released.
