Vehicle Detail

Good rat bike anyone? Antisocially loud, you can make a statement with this ride. This bike started life as a GS1150 but got a motor swap somewhere along the line to an 1100E. Actually this was a pretty easy swap and since the 1150 motors were popular for dragging, somebody probably did a buddy-swap deal here. The chassis looks good and the plastic and what appear to be original equipment turn signals suggest this one hasn’t even been down. The cases are in decent shape and the fairing panels are in amazingly good shape—several missing tabs but no panel cracks, straight paint and even nice graphics. Clock shows 6700 miles which nobody including you and me believes but the gages work and based on the overall condition it wouldn’t surprise me if the chassis miles are relatively low. The 1100 motor wasn’t at a big deficit to the 1150, so this one rides out fast and as I mentioned, loud. I did a re-jet on this bike when it came in and it starts and runs eagerly, it even idles with no fuss. It’s not leaking anything and runs out strong with no transmission, shifting or clutch issues. Lights including both hand and foot brake light switches are working as are the turn signals. There are even a few extra lights—on the dashboard that light up just to show you they are working. This bike has some life left in it and if you have an 1150 with trashed plastic and fairing, you could do worse than riding this one for a year or two and salvaging all those good panels. If you follow my auctions, you know that most of my bikes are highly detailed and carefully prepared. Sometimes I get one that just looks like a fun ole warhorse for somebody to give it hell for a year or two on—that’s the way this one strikes me. Not worth going through the cosmetics, just a good rider. Front tire is about 50%, back is near new. There’s a couple cracks in the rider seat towards the front. Chain is new, lubed and correctly adjusted. Brakes are fine and the thing runs out loud and strong. Front suspension would benefit from a set of progressive springs, but then at 26 yrs old, most bikes would. I have a small team of craftsmen including a factory trained Suzuki technician and other experts. We try hard to make these old bikes as reliable as possible by incorporating Suzuki service bulletins and addressing the weak points with logical upgrades. However, a vintage bike is typically not going to be as reliable as a newer bike and if you are a stickler for cosmetic details you may not be happy with a bike that has some blems. I maintain a high buyer satisfaction rating via accurate descriptions. Of course you know by now that any used vehicle is sold as-is/where-is without warrantee expressed or implied.
