Vehicle Detail

Automatic transmission. Rebuilt Title. A/C needs to be charged. Is a great local drive, and an incredibly economical, though understandably slower, long distance runner. Make no mistake, this car was originally built for reliability and safety, not speed. Very strong mechanically. New glow plugs installed (by ben's workshop, austin,tx) 8 months ago, so it starts up right away, even on cold start. Plug in engine warmer works (fun feature in winter for the really cold starts). Has vacuum leak which only affects shut off (actual engine shut off delayed about 5 seconds after key shut off). Does not affect transmission. This can be solved by finding the hose causing the leak and replacing. Honestly, this problem may reoccur as different hoses grow old. I have successfully fixed the problem once by locating the faulty hose. If someone were willing to have all hoses inspected and replaced as necessary the problem would be eliminated. This is a common concern with this engine and so it is equipped with a manual "STOP" lever located on the top driver's side of the engine block. Needs tlc on body in form of: New motors for both rear windows. Driver's window needs new track. Rear window on driver's side is stuck in down position though glass is intact. Covered with plastic now. Hood has two small dents near windshield on either side causing it to be slightly difficult to open though still functional. Trunk leaks. One "sun" crack on top of dash. Dent on passenger front door (as pictured). Ok: I think that's it for its needs... Reads like a lot, but, it's a great car if you're looking for a strong, classic vehicle and are willing to bring the appearance/convenience factors up to your own standards (don't get me wrong, though, it's pretty, as is.). Has had only two owners, myself included. Motors/track on windows are no surprise since the parts are 28 years old. Electric sunroof works fine. It's an overall safe comfortable vehicle. The mercedes quality is very apparent when driving. Can be driven everyday, as is. Great diesel fuel mileage and secure handling. Overall a good looking ride. Though for aesthetics/fresh air! sake I can imagine that a new owner would need to make repairs and so I'm not firm on my price. Would be willing to decrease asking amount. If you're a bargain hunter or not, the window motors and track can be found from a parts source, as you may know. They're common enough as this particular model of mercedes is popular and plentiful. I'm guessing that's due to it's strength mechanically and the safety factor. It has given me 6 years of reliability. Previous owner bought it new in 1982 and kept it maintained to show room quality. Rebuilt title is result of accident in 2003. Body damage repaired. As far as older, dependable cars go, this one is a catch if a buyer is willing to spruce it up a bit as they find necessary. (And I'm not just saying that).
