This 1981 Mercedes Benz 300SD Turbo Diesel is a low miles car for the famed 300SD model line. This year, make, and model are well known for their reliability, longevity and mpg. This is one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned. I have owned the car for 10 years and it has never once caused a problem. The car has 135,600 miles on it, so for this motor which boasts the bullet proof 5-cylinder engine with a cast iron block and cast iron heads, it is nicely broken in. This car was first put into service on June 30, 1981 where it was originally sold at Jim Slemons Imports in California. This is a no rust California car that consistently gets 28+ MPG. I am listing the car as a no reserve auction, so the buyer is the one to determine the value to him or her. So, if you are looking for an inexpensive and reliable daily driver or if you are looking for a solid start to a classic Mercedes Benz project car, stay on top of this auction. Vehicle condition: Engine and Transmission – Every hose on the engine and transmission were recently replaced and the transmission itself was completely rebuilt with less than 2000 mile put on the car since this rebuild. Recent service includes an oil and filter change, new tires, and a K&N air filter. The AC blows cold and the heat blows warm however the AC may need a recharge for it to blow ice cold. Since the transmission is new and only has about 2000 miles on it, adjustments at 5000 miles to dial her in are suggested. The only other issue is the alignment, I did not have the alignment done at the time the new tires were put on because I knew I was soon to be filing a non-op registration because at the time I had 4-5 other cars. The car currently has a legal non-op registration with the DMV. Interior – the interior is in pretty good condition because it has the long lasting MB-tex material. There is only one small hole in the drivers seat (see photo). The areas that need attention include the headliner as it is sagging at the back near the rear window (see photo) and it has a small tear near the sunroof slider. The sunroof is not reliable and the passenger front window switch is missing. I do have the replacement switch for the front window and this is included with the car. Exterior – the body is straight and has no rust, the exterior paint is faded and the clear coat is poor. The windshield has two small cracks in it and the rubber around the windshield and rear window need replacing. I broke the antenna but I do have a replacement antenna that is in the trunk, it does go with the car. Included with the sale of this car are all the original Mercedes-Benz documents and manuals (see photo), the tool kit (see photo), and I even have the original sales brochure (see photo).
