Vehicle Detail

I have owned this Austin Healey Sprite since 1966 when I bought it from an Archivist at the Eisenhower Presidential Library here in Abilene. It had 18000 miles on it in 1966. Everything works on the car except the tachometer, and the things which I have had replaced or repaired are a new top, upholstery and carpet, the side curtain windows, and a new paint job…the same color as the original. I have driven the vehicle about 500 miles in the last 15 years (at the most). It has always been in a garage and the body/motor/drive train are all original. I even have the original tonneau cover, top spars, jack, jacket to enclose the windows when they are removed when you have the top “off”. The original windows are in the jacket in the trunk. The heater even works. There is no radio, (nor has there ever been), but if you look at the dashboard carefully, you can see where one would go, but I have never had one. The dashboard “upholstery” is original, as is that on the interior between and on the side the passenger leg spaces. Granted, it is not a “bugeye”, but I think is one of the first 1964 models with the lights in the fender. I have it licensed in Kansas as an “Antique”, and have the title showing such. It is still insured by State Farm Insurance, and the insurance has never been dropped. Note the chrome…it is practically perfect…there is a slight scratch and dent on the right front fender caused by a bike handlebar in approximately 1970. The rubber plugs where you insert the jack on each side, are even original. A friend brought it up to “running shape” about three months ago. He is a graduate of the Jay Leno program at McPherson College in McPherson, KS. The carburetors are functioning perfectly, he said. He did replace the seals on the hydraulic cylinder which operates the clutch and the brakes. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me direct. I would emphasize that my sale price is FOB: Abilene, KS, with the buyer paying freight. I am ready to sell, so happy bidding!
