Vehicle Detail

I acquired this rare California truck as part of a trade a few months ago for a Hot Rod that I owned. I didn't think much about this truck at the time other then I liked the look of the Napco 4x4 under the 59 body and the sound of the lumpy cam through the Flowmaster. I actually started choosing this 59 over my new truck to drive back and forth to my shop everyday and have really enjoyed it. This truck runs even better then it looks - it drives, stops and turns WAY better then I ever expected. The motors a 1969 350 Chevrolet freshly rebuilt. New 40 over pistons. Double roller timing gear. Cam has a crisp 292 / 480 lump to it. 194 Camel Hump heads with screw in studs, stainless valves, guide plates, Z28 springs. Cranks a 10/20 . High volume oil pump. Edelbrock intake and carb and aftermarket ignition. Headers into Flowmasters dumping behind the cab. Original Radiator and fan set up. Clutch and throw out bearing make no weird noises and feel tight with no chatter or slipping. Transmission is the stout original 1959 4 speed with Granny low having no trouble with the 350 and 35" tires . Dealer installed Napco divorce transfer case and heavy front and rear differentials carrying 456 gears (which were just gone through before I got it). The axles spin 35" TAs on chrome spokes with original Warn lock ins on the front hubs. Brakes are big 4 wheel drum and have no trouble stopping this truck. Original steering box is tight with minimal play and no chatter or side to side movement. No Power Steering so it's best to be rolling when steering. All the glass is original and good except the windshield which is a brand new PPG replacement. Seats in great shape with no damage and only light wear showing. Dash & glove box is uncut and original. Door panels are uncut, in good shape and original. All interior moldings are intact including the mirrors. Original gas tank behind the seat still looks new. Original gauge package is in place and working 100% although the high volume oil pump in the motor pegs the poor old oil pressure gauge almost off the charts. Steering column and wheel look great including the Chevrolet bow tie horn button but no horn. Wiper switch, motor and arms are in place but not working, don't need wipers here anyway. Blower / Heater is working but the heater switch is not functioning, don't need a heater here anyway. Cab floor is all solid and under the seat looks like brand new. Headliner insert is gone. Door and window handles/mechanisms are all there and working including the wing windows. Door lock is working. Lights are working including the aircraft style Halogen high beam lights. No blinks. Tachometer is included with shift light. Wiring was redone with what looks to be Aircraft connectors and workmanship. This truck has spent its 51 years here in Northern California and so has very little rust. The frame & suspension show no signs of rust or collision damage anywhere. The truck has some minor damage in all the typical dirt collecting areas - lower fenders, cab corners, door bottoms. We put 4" patch panels in the front fenders down low and we welded up some "extra" holes someone drilled in the bed. The wood bed is original and should be replaced as it is weathered and dry with a couple of holes and soft spots in it already. All steel trim pieces are in the bed. These trucks rarely come up for auction especially in this condition. The truck being 51 years old is sold as is with no warranty express or implied. It is tall geared with 456s so comfortable cruising speed for the motor is 55-60 mph on the freeway, please take this into account when bidding. Good Luck and ask alot of questions.. I also have alot more pictures so email for the areas you would like to see.. We are located 2 hours North East of San Francisco and 2 hours North West of Sacramento. We can also finish the body work / bed work and paint the truck for you after the sale for an additional cost please inquire for price quote after the auction ends. We may deliver on the West Coast for an additional fee please inquire for specific pricing. Delivery to Long Beach International Shipping Port is available for an additional fee for our vintage car & truck fanatic's overseas. Thank's for checking out our auction On Jun-30-10 at 16:01:11 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received alot of great information on the truck from the Ebay community and want to share it with all of the watchers & serious bidders. I make reference to "original" in the headline for the ad and I want to clarify, the reference I am making to "original" in the heading is that of the working and complete 3/4 Ton Napco suspension from the frame down as delivered back in 1959. The engine is not original to the truck and some of the body parts are not as well. The badges on the front fenders are marked 38 which would mean a 1 ton application which is incorrect for this suspension. The Cab I.D. Tag on the trucks door pillar matches the VIN on the clear Calfornia title I have. The VIN reads - 3B - which in decoding the VIN would be a "3200 series" cab or originally built for 1/2 ton. As with most of these vintage cars & trucks, parts are swapped and replaced as needed and I have no idea the origin or happenings the 50 years prior to me getting it. When I got the truck all I cared about was how great it looked, how well it ran and just how cool it was overall. I didn't think in Corvette guy mentality about every little number matching because it was just a really cool old pickup truck..... Sorry for any misunderstanding on my listing as it wasn't done in anyway to misrepresent the truck. Also I have alot more pictures available for you to view and encourage you to send me your email address so you can review them before deciding to bid. Thank you! for all the interest and education you gave me on this old pickup - Chuck My cell 360-739-5966 Pacific Daylight Time
