Vehicle Detail

1933 Plymouth "Deluxe Six" Rumble Seat Coupe "PD" Model You are viewing a privately owned 1933 Plymouth DeLuxe Six coupe with rumble seat. Classic Cars Online is helping the owner's family with the presentation and listing of this fine vehicle. You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from them. Here is the situation. The owner of the vehicle passed away earlier this year. His children are dealing with his estate and this vehicle is part of that. They know very little about the history of the vehicle. He has owned this Plymouth since 2007. There are only 76,726 actual miles on the 77 year old vehicle. Below, we compiled a brief description after we spent about an hour looking at and photographing the vehicle last weekend. Please read and view all of the 96 pictures listed in the photo gallery. Click on each picture to make them larger. Would you buy a car on eBay with four pictures and one paragraph of description? NO. That is why at Classic Cars Online, our listings will go over and show every area of the vehicle that is up for auction. Bid with confidence! Body & Paint: From what we see, the vehicle has received some sort of restoration over the years. We are unsure when it was done and by who. The dark blue paint is called "Radio Blue." It was correct for the model and year vehicle. It is holding up very well. We did not see any checking, cracking, or fading in the paint. It does have some typical nicks, chips and small scratches here and there that any car will get over the years. The body panel fit and gaps were good. This is an all steel body. We did not see any signs of body filler or patches. The four fenders are painted black just as they were from the factory. The hand painted pin striping color is called "Packard Ivory" and it matches the color of the wheels. For those that know these cars better then we do, there is a number stamped into the firewall. We are unsure if this is some sort of "Body ID number". It is "11711". The black vinyl roof area looks to be in great shape. It is not shrinking or cracking. The side running boards also are in very good condition. The painted spare tire carrier is in nice shape. We are unsure of the condition of the spare tire. Chrome & Trim: All the chrome and trim items are intact. Some items were rechromed, some still look to have the original nickel plating on them. The door handles and emblems look to still be original and are showing some age. The chrome on the headlights, taillights, horns, and bumpers all look good. There is a small spot or two on the bumper where it is starting to rust. (See photo 32) The front grille is in very nice shape with no broken or bent bars. The two lower front driving lights are not wired at this time. Interior: The seat, door panels, and headliner were all redone at one point. They look good. The seat does have some wear on the driver's side edge. (See photo 58) The rest of the interior still looks original. The original nickel plated interior door and window handles are showing their age. (See photo 60) The interior mirror with clock and sunvisor are still in original unrestored condition. The painted wood grain trim looks very good. The steering wheel is in great shape with no cracks or splits. It has an old Motorola 504 radio along with an AM/FM converter installed. We are unsure if they work or even if they are connected. (Wires hanging from under dash.) The instrument gauges look good. We are assuming they are in working order. The mileage is showing 76,726 miles. These may or may not be the true actual miles for the vehicle. Looking at the condition of the items that are still original and unrestored, this very well could be the true mileage. Engine Compartment: It looks to still have the original inline 6 cylinder engine. (189.8 cu. in. 70hp) The engine number, PD192238, falls into the correct range for this model and year vehicle. (See photo 92) Unsure when the engine was rebuilt. It does run great without any smoke, ticks, or other problems. For the most part, the engine compartment still looks stock. It has the correct air cleaner, carburetor, generator, oil canister, and other hardware pieces. Yes, it could use a good cleaning and detailing, but all of the correct items are there. Wheels & Tires: It has the original spoke wheels with the Plymouth center caps. The rims are painted in a "Packard Ivory" color. Some of the paint is chipping off and could use a quick repaint. The stainless steel center caps are O.K. Some of the black paint is coming off of these also. The four whitewall tires are in great shape with plenty of tread. The whitewalls could use a good scrub to make them pure white again. Glass: All of the glass looks good. Not sure if it is still all original or not. We didn't see cracks, or major chips, stone nicks or scratches. This includes the windshield. The side windows roll up and down without any problems. The rear window does have a pull down shade. Rumble Seat Compartment: The rumble seat has been redone in what looks like black vinyl. It is in good condition with no rips, holes, or marks. There is a black rubber mat on the floor area. The door opens and closes without any problems or effort. The rubber steps on the rear fender are in nice shape. Frame & Undercarriage: We did not see anything major going on with the underside. It does have the typical surface rust and road grime from being driven. A quick cleaning with a pressure washer will remove most of this stuff. It looks very solid and will clean up nice. The car still has the hydraulic brakes system it came with originally. The exhaust system looks solid without any holes. The springs and other suspension items are all in good working order. Most of the undercarriage looks stock and correct. Nine times out of ten, people selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside. The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, that is why I took a few pictures of the bottom. We require you to put in writing via email or fax the material misrepresentations in order to receive a refund of your deposit. Taking a few photos of the misrepresented area for us to see, will help point out and confirm your concerns.
